I dont care what they do in the dessert with these bikes...when it gets so hot it
starts pinging...BAD, it aint good or normal after only 25-35 minutes in traffic.

I could care less (to a point) that my leg feels like I am straddling an open oven,
but I do care that when I can start to move, the bike pings like hell and looses
so much power it feels like it is going to cut off.

I am doing what I can to fix the problem with sert/ac and exhaust...but it still is
not helping so far. I am willing to spend a little more to fix it...I just want it fixed
so I don't have to worry every I get stuck in traffic that i am going to be sitting
on the side of the road for an hour waiting for it to cool down some.

I love harleys old and new, but this is a 37k ISSUE.

Thanks for all the responses.

diggity, I'm sorry you're having these issues. Buying the parts you did will certainly help. But more importantly, getting them and the bike into the hands of a qualified tuner is the key to setting the engine up properly. Maybe something is wrong with your engine. That qualified tuner will figure that out too. As this has been suggested before, procedureally, find a good, qualified tuner and use the tuning mechanism he suggests, not the other way around. I hope you get the bike tuned to your satisfaction or find out what the problem is. They all run hot, but they don't perform as bad as you're saying. But this problem can be located and corrected by a qualified person. Good luck. Hoist! 8)

Diggity - I have an 07 SEULTRA - Rinehart true duals, SERT, SE Stage 1, dyno tuned and then re-tuned.  Rode about 2k miles this last weekend in the Smokies including Deals Gap, Foothills Pkwy, Cherahala and a big variety of mountain twisties.  Rode hard, rode fast all days (about burnt off the back tire, but that's another issue) and had no heat issues.  Sat in traffic more than I like - we avoided Gatlinburg but went through Cherokee & Maggie Valley with lots of idling time.  Bike ran great.  Best suggestions include a tune from a tuner you trust after you install parts.  My re-tune was worth the time spent - no $$$ spent - bike ran MUCH better afterwards. Temps were 100+ on my ride home through Georgia last Sunday, BTW.

Good luck, hope it runs better after.

Thanks again for the responses all, it is greatly appreciated.

I am going to call the dealer tomorrow and see what they say and
start taking some temp readings.

Anyone know of a GOOD tuner with the sert's around the raleigh, NC area?

Can also take a ride somewhere else to get to a good tuner within several hours
of here?

Lets hear some good ones all...
