Took my new CUSE2 in for noisy top end.....
« on: June 15, 2007, 01:53:15 PM »

Got a new CUSE2 four weeks ago and have excessive top end noise just as described in this site.  Took my bike back (with only 125 miles on it) left it with the dealer for a few days and they deemed the noise normal.  I went up to the dealer this morning and pressed the issue further bringing up the information I garnered on this site about rocker box clearance.  The shop foreman agreed to call the factory and see what they would say about this.  Shop foreman just called me back....before he could get the words out of his mouth, the factory rep told him the problem was the rocker box clearance and gave him everything he needed to get the repair done under warranty.  So I guess we can call this an "official" national problem now.  Although I am sad to be without my bike, I am very happy how Harley is handling this and am happy with the sales and service staff at Dallas Harley Davidson as I have been since I bought my first bike from them in 2003.

Just wanted to thank all you guys for giving me a little extra ammo!!

I'm glad they're taking care of that Panther. Keep an eye on the rear head gasket too. That's another one they know all about. That's what we do best here. Educating our dealers as to what HD's issues are and what fits what. I've become a resource for my dealer to find out about things they don't know yet. So now I'm credible when I talkt to or request something of them. This site rules! And so do it's members!!! :2vrolijk_21:

When you think that the typical dealer probably doesn't see more than a handful of CVO bikes to begin with, it's really not surprising they don't know much about them.  This site is absolutely invaluable for that very reason...we can inform the dealers from what we learn here from each other. :2vrolijk_21:

Agree.  Just had my dealer order the new head gasket for my cuse.  Think this is the first they have heard of it.  Like you say - just not enough 110s around for every dealer to be knowledgable.  What I have learned here and been able to share has been invaluable.  Great resource and the only board I visit (much less post on) now.

Glad its to be resolved, Panther.

Some bikes have issues, others do not.  Nice to know what the more likely issues are and what the suggested fix for them is.  Reading here is a treasure trove of info.

Great site here, lots of good info - great posters riding fantastic bikes make it more fun than it would be otherwise.

Is your dealer will receive a document from the MOCO about the rocker box problem ?

Good question Jacques.  I will ask when I pick the bike up.

If I found a document, I'll give this to my dealer.

For my first inspection, I spoke him about the rocker boxes problem but he answered me that he had received not information from the MOCO.

He heard the noise and said me : Yes ! it's noisy !
but he had not opened the covers.
