Help with installing bracket/taillight kit
« on: June 15, 2007, 06:41:56 PM »

part number 68230-97B
everthing went well with the install. the running lights work but when you put on the brake instead of the brake light coming on the lights go off. I also have the bag brake lights and they work fine. I installed the dual harness accessory at the battery and it works as it should. I tried to hook the new kit up to the 4-pin deutsch by itself and the same thing happens. The bulbs look OK. I am thinking the new kit is not wired the way it should be, and I do not have a meter to check it. Call the local Harley store well I needed a good kick in the assssssss. No help

Any ideas will be helpful
thanks

Slash

It is possible to have a bad/weak ground in the new light. It could be good enough to handle the current of the running lights, but not the brake lights. The ground circuit might be going open.
Try running a good ground jumper wire to the housing of the light bulb socket.

Good Luck

FOUND IT the Harley guys and girls had put so much goop in each one of the sockets they were not making a good connection.
one thing for sure they would have never rusted.

thanks again JD for your help
