I grew up in a small desert community, actually Ridgecrest Ca. My father (Gordy) worked at China Lake Naval Ordnance test station and was Ordnance Engineer, for 30 years. Every weekend and many summer weeks our family and many others spent our time watersking, either at Lake Diaz near Lone Pine, or Lake Isabella near Bakersfield. My Pops was a top dog waterskier, he even considered going pro on a few occasions. When i was around 6 years old i can remember everyone calling him SportyGordy. He was always known as SportyGordy, no one ever called him Gordy, always Sporty Gordy. Last November 21, 2007 we lost our Pops at a young 86 years old. When i was trying to figure out my handle it came natural to use Sporty Gordy, even though my name ain't even close to Gordy..

 Are you still in the High Desert? A good friend owns Motion Tire there in Ridgecrest and I am just a little south in Lancaster. Passing through your part on Friday heading to the No. Cal. GTG.  Dave

No i havent lived in the High Desert since 1985. I still have family there and visit a few times a year. I think I know the Motion Tire owners. I'm living in Sacramento area now.. Where are you headed north?

The proper pronunciation of my last name. Also, in most cases, I'm an early adopter, especially in technology. The HD came late in the game for someone who picks up on most trends. Perhaps because it's not a trend, it's a lifestyle.
