King Tour-pak Mod
« on: January 09, 2005, 06:22:02 PM »

Did this mod late last summer but am just getting around to posting it. I have the black/blue 04 SEEG with the H/D docking kit/hardware for the tour-pak(s).  I use both a chopped and full tour-pak.  In most cases the chopped is all I need, but there are times when traveling 2-up on extended trips that the king tour-pak definitely serves me better.  I have the H/D spoiler kits installed on both paks wired to flash with the panacea tail/brake light kit.

Every year I travel down the Coastal Pacific Highway starting on the west coast of Canada and exiting just north of L.A.  My bikes visibility is a major concern for me especially when I run into lots of fog along the way.  To add to the visibility that the spoilers provide I installed the tail/brake light and side light options on the king, that I once had on my Ultra.  I also didn

Darrel, when I was working on the big tour pak for my red bike I did the spoiler and the side lights as you have but I didn't do the large tail/brake lights.  I thought about it.  Then talked myself out of it.  How far do they protrude in to the tour pak (how much space do you lose inside).  Any chance you've got one more photo of the inside with all the mechanicals showing?

Darrell, like your locking lef fairing boxes, the quality  of the trick little things that you have done are top drawer.  I like that king tour pack......especially the addition of the added lighting (I like to be REALLY seen from the rear!   Had two different friends run over and killed, sitting at a stop light and a third just got knocked across the intersection.....all three seperate incidents.......first two were due to drunks and third was due to the sun low on the horizon and she couldn't see the light and assumed it was green and didn't see the bike in front of her).

I'd like to see you post a few pics of your bike with and without the tour pack.

I will take some shots tonight of the inside.  You do loose some space for the rear light housings.

The "Sceamin Eagle" is painted using a spray mask.  There are shops that specialize in pin stripping, decals and making paint masks.  I took them a photocopy or printout, cant remember which, and they made a couple of paint masks that I then gave to the painter for spraying.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

JCZ, I will post some pics with no tourpak, chopped & king, but it might be awhile.  I am trying to finish 2 other bikes (V-Rod & Indian) for the world of wheels next month both of which are blocking access to the SEEG.  I will also post some details on the flasher circuits that I added in to operate in sync with the panacea system.  Sorry for being a little slow with posting this.

Yes, the spoiler lights flash with the panacea.  I can't remember if I also flash the tourpak wrap around brake lights but I think so.  Will test it when I can get access to the bike.
