Today's Update:

Pistons, cylinders and heads are back on. The cam chest is fully assembled. The rocker boxes are being clearanced for the valve springs and roller rockers. Still waiting for the ported throttle body and the speedo. Providing the TB shows up tomorrow as promised, we'll be heat cycling the motor tomorrow. Hopefully, Joe will be picking it up on Sat morning. I'll meet him up there and after he gets a break-in map installed, I'll put some light miles on so he can tune it next week. If this goes according to plan, I'll be picking it up next weekend fully tuned! So far, so good!!! :2vrolijk_21:

The PM calipers will be in on the 24th. I might have Joe put them on when I'm up there the second time for convenience, if the rear brakeline shows up on time, that is.

I left at 9 to go see my bike. We are in the middle of a total deluge right now. Took me 45 minutes to circle the neighborhood, trying to find a way onto the highway to get over the bridge. All the main highways are closed. All the entrance ramps are blocked off. We rarely get rain like this. It figure it's on the day I was supposed to confirm my runout. The tech can't get in either though. He has to cross the same bridge.

The tech just arrived and called. When he loosened the rear head bolts oil started pouring out of the base. Bad rear cylinder. Man, Hoist ain't as dumb as he looks! He's using the spare set I brought with me and will order the replacement pistons and cylinders under w.....ty! I'll return them when they arrive, but my job proceeds without a hiccup. New pistons and cylinders, front and rear. Everything else is looking OK. I'm going to attempt to get up there again. I'll catch you guys later! ;)

Is the problem with the old ones specifically known?  Do you know for a fact the new ones won't be carrying the same problem back to the installation?

The problem seems to be that the barrels aren't square with the cases. It's very difficult to determine if they match too. They're brand new barrels. All I can do is hope they're square to the cases now! :nixweiss: Hoist! 8)

Just finished catching up on this thread.  Sounds like great progress and a happy Howie.

Keeping my fingers crossed the new cylinders aren't also problem children.  It would Royally Suck if after getting it all back together you had head gasket/cylinder problems again.

Is there a way to check the barrels? The reason I'm asking is that my bike is going in on Monday for the dead ACR and to fix the leak at the base of the rear jug again. All they'll do is pull the jug and put in new o-rings. It's already been done once before. If there was a way to actually determine what the problem with the jug is, I would have something to look for. Other than that, replacing a jug with an assumed problem with one assumed to be correct is just a crap shoot.

Wow, you can really tell from my posts whether I'm happy or pissed? I'm really shocked to hear that! :o ::) And yes, it sure would suck! I'm way not up to worrying about that now. :nixweiss: I'm not worried about the head gaskets anymore! ;) I just hope these barrels turn out OK.

The Tech was telling me that there's some weird expensive tool to check it. But they don't have it. I guess straight edges and protractors? :nixweiss: I don't have much choice but to take a new barrel from the box and use it.

Also, I tried to have him disconnect the ACR's too. But they're tied into the ECM and will throw a code if not connected. Who makes ACR Eliminators? ::)

It is your day, Brother, Glad for ya.

I'd say so sk! I just spoke to Joe, the tuner. He's making arrangements to send a guy down on Sat morning to pick it up. I'll meet him up at his shop in Mechanicville, and he'll put the break-in map in so I can ride around upstate all weekend. Then I'll leave him the bike for the week, and pick it up next weekend! Man, it would sure be awesome if this chit all pulls together like this!!! :2vrolijk_21:

More dancing weenies for all! :jalapeno: :jalapeno:

How's that d00d? ;D

All those dancing weenies just because a service dept. is doing what they say they will do.

After your earlier experience Howie, most understandable.

After you get the bike back (soon I hope), a full page of dancing smilies is expected!   :2vrolijk_21:
