MoCo must know it was a problem though. The '07's have screw in dipsticks! Hoist!

This may also have to do with emissions, they may have found the incomplete seal was adding to the emissions they test for.

No question its a more positive fit with the new system.

A buddy with a TC88 Road King completely lost the oil dipstick (LCD Temp type) while cruising on the freeway. Was not aware of it until motor started acting funny. No oil light at that point. Scored rear cylinder. Bike under warranty. Big bore kit was planned for a future project, but due to the damage he got the labor covered by warranty and only paid for the parts. No one ever had an explanation for why the dipstick blew off. Oil changes were done by the dealer.

I didn't know that it was the prevalent of an issue.  I never even thought about it with my 02 ultra and it never happened.  All  can say is thank goodness the 07's have the screw-in dipstick vice the push-in.  Don't have to worry about it popping out if you fill the tank to the mark.

The same thing happened to me blew the dipstick all the way out. I was getting on it when I hit second I smelled oil and saw smoke every where. I limped it home about a mile. No oil would come out with the dipstick gone unless I throttled hard. Went back in my truck and found my Dip stick on the side of the road. hasn't happened since. I had just changed recently changed the oil and toped it just below the full mark (hot check). When I checked the oil after the cap popped off the level was still good right at the half way point. What a mess to clean up!!!
