How about another story about how great the people of this site are!
As a lot of people know I have been looking for another 03 Classic. (silver and black of course)
Have been looking everywhere, from coast to coast to north to south.
Well I found one this past week.
Only problem was, it was 1200 miles away in Houston Texas.
It's hard to run down and check out a bike that is that far away.
Then it dawns on me, Mike White lives close to Houston.
Got his # from Don and called, sure no problem he would go look at the bike.
I call the owner and ask him if I could send Mike by to look at it. No problem there.
Mike calls me and tells me that the bike is in excellent condition. Ridden by an older gentleman (original owner) that
has taken care of it. No flaws, no worries.
I call the owner back and we cut a deal.
Thursday afternoon Mike picks up the owner and the bike and runs down to Wachovia where there is a check waiting.
Paperwork done, Mike takes the man home and Nancy's new bike home with him.
You see next week is Nancy's birthday and this bike is for her.
So the only issue now left is how to get the bike here to Charlotte.
Was talking to Mike and he said, I have a suggestion.
I'm building a 32 Ford panel truck and there is a frame shop in Hickory NC that I want to do business with.
What if you picked up the frame and we could meet 1/2 way and swap frame for bike.
I'm like chit! That works for me.
So we left at 5 am this Saturday morning headed for Mobile Alabama to meet Mike.
1193 miles later (most of it in the rain) there is an 03 Silver and Black Classic sitting here at home.
Now tell me, having friends from this web site doesn't pay off!
On the trip back Nancy kept looking back at the bike saying, I can believe I now have my own bagger.
Yup Nancy it's true!
Happy Birthday!
And a special thanks to Mike White and Becky for helping make this happen!
