Lower ferring

Is anyone riding with there lower ferrings on in a hot climate. Here in GA. It's high 80's to lower 90's.

I have never taken my lowers off my bike...today it is 94 degrees and probably 80% humidity...HOT.

Never taken my lowers off either.  Rode in 100 degree temps a few weeks ago.

Best make sure the lower vents are open.

You know if you ride these new bikes in the rain you get a free steam bath but don't tell the moco or they will charge us extra for that. ;D

I had them off once to do a good clean and polish, left them off for about a week.
Didn't like the way it looked and after seeing how much the lower fork sliders had been "sand blasted" I decided to put them back on, they already have nicks and chips from the road, so why damage the chrome on the engine too?

The only reason I took mine off is because I am always dropping my Ultra.








Intentionally, that is. I do a bike drop, and bike up demo for the folks who take my Ride Like A Pro class.
When I leave on my ride next month, I'm putting them back on.

Different opinion here....Living in TX and still uncertain about how these bikes handle the extremely hot weather, I  took mine off the first week I had the bike.  I have them wrapped and stored and they will stay off until  fall.  I actually like the bike without them as I have more room to stretch my legs.

I do miss the extra storeage they offer, but I just want to keep the engine as cool as possible.  I know some will tell you that the rear jugs gets more air with them on, but someone will have to prove that to me.  Not buying that theory until I see some wind tunnel testing :P

You can bet the first cold day, I'll be installing them as fast as I can.  I may look into the quick detach hardware that the MoCo just came out with.  I want to do all I can to make it easier for someone to rip mine off when the get a chance.

Had a long conversation with a fellow that explained the "channeling" effect the lowers have as to air flow around the engine.  So far no problems - know some folks who take the lowers off and it will get more air to the rider when its hot.

As to that quick detach - biggest drawback would be it would be MUCH quicker for thieves to steal lowers, and there is an aftermarket for lowers out there.

I never took them off my 02, which didn't have the vents, and now the 07, which does have the vents.  I added the adjustable fairing wings and get plenty of air flow back towards me and the engine.  No need to take them off, plus I like the looks of them on better.

Have always left them on. Why take them off? Besides if I take mine off I will loose half of my tunes/volume  ;D
