I will not sipute anyones method of breaking in. Every bike I have ever owned here is the procedure I use.
Start the bike, let it idle for about 8 minutes. Get on the bike bring each gear up to redline dump off, then I decel allowing the engine to do all the braking and downshift at the least possible rpms without lugging, pull over and grab a beer or other beverage of your choice. Allow the engine to cool completely.
Do same porcedure again...........change oil and filter..........broke in..........done.
This has worked for me with the last 5 bikes I have owned and never had a problem. The factory recommended break in procedure might be the "safest" way to break it in......but then you got to figure before your bike left the plant that baby was thrown on a dyno and ripped full throttle before it ever hit the floor, it didn't blow up then did it? If it's going to fall apart I would rather know now not later. I tend to agree with Hubbard aside from my first two warming cycles procedure that I have followed religiously.
