Any way of changing the color of the dash lights?
« on: February 02, 2005, 11:50:20 AM »

Riding the original SEEG (blue and black), I have the blue accent lights all around my motor and tranny.

JCZ

Just a thought---------> I know that's my first mistake

If I put blue lights on my red SEEG around the motor and tranny, then if we ever get a chance to meet , people will really think we are terribly confused when they look at our bikes!

Actually I think  that blue on the dash would look cool!

Years back I remember that Harley sold different colored bulbs for thier gauges. I searched the site and did not find anything. I have some old parts catalogs i will look through and see what I can come up with. You may be able to use single blue LED's, I have not had the fairing apart to see how the bulbs mount.

  I had the same idea, but then looked at the radio display. You would have blue gauges and a red radio display. So unless you could find a way to change the radio display you would have a problem. I have considered taking the radio apart to see if the display in it is colored by the bulb like the gauges, but if I open it up I think it would void the warranty. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Did a search and found this site that sells colored bulbs and bulb paint:
http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/bulbs.html

I'm not sure if the bulbs they have will fit the gauges, maybe some here knows the bulb number? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

If not the blue bulb paint would do the trick [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

JCZ have checked on this all the gauges have replacement covers over the bulb except the speedo and tach and they maybe changeable but you would have to open them up and someone told me that its a b***h.  Keep us posted.

JC,
Just thought of a suggestion no one else has mentioned yet.  Some really heavily tinted shades man.  Sunglasses, at night.  Not only will the bike look cool to you, but you'll be able to claim to be on a mission from God  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

JCZ, talk to Scott at Bluegauges http://www.bluegauges.com/. He can change the lighting in just about any gauge and you won't have to worry about condensation problems after. He has been around for quite awhile and does excellent work. He also does custom face plates. I had him design a custom face plate for my V-Rod gauge cluster (pic attached) and he did a great job. I know a bunch of guys who have used him to change the LED lighting in the sport bike gauges and to the best of my knowledge none have had any problems.

Here are a couple more pics. I don't have any yet of the finished bike, it's still in pieces waiting for me to find the time to finish it.
