Oil On Rear Spark Plug
« on: February 06, 2005, 10:49:31 PM »

Has anyone had any problem with there rings not seating. It seems the rear cylinder is having a problem still at 1600 miles. The clean plug is from the front the oil fouled is from the rear. These plugs only have 500 miles on them . I changed them at 1000 miles because the original plug looked the same as this one.

Dave,
What is your compression test on both front and back reading?
What does it read after 30 seconds?
What is the reading after 5 minutes?

Mike ,
The front reads 153 and the rear reads 150. I dont know what they normaly run but would like to know if anyone has else has checked the cranking pressure on a stock 103.
I dont have a leak down tester .
I guess this oil could be coming from a valve seal also.

Dave,
The compression seems about right.  I think that the thought about the valve seal is more realistic based upon the info we have so far.  If you are going to have the heads removed after further investigation, it is the perfect time to get them flowed.

I had a 04 rider I ride with go through something similar. His was the front cylinder, but the same symptoms. It ended up being the valve seal machining. The dealer replaced the head, piston, and honed the bore. Works great so far!
