It's hard to believe when you're being told that all you are going thru at that time will build character but it really does. It does make things later in life much easier to deal with.. :2vrolijk_21:

Yes it does......Really!!!  Sometimes I actually wish I could do some of that stuff again...........in trade for some of the stuff I must do now, but like the good book says, "This too shall pass."  And it always does, but it ain't at all easy.

The really awesome part is............I can decompress on Thumper!!!!!!!!!!  WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!   :2vrolijk_20: :2vrolijk_20: :vrolijk_4: :vrolijk_4: :laugh4: :laugh4:   :vrolijk_6: :vrolijk_6: :6: :6:

Henry,

When you were going over what you wanted with Dennis, what was the target for numbers (you were or they) were looking at keeping in mind the reliability as key factor to the build.

Gonna carry Thumper down to Cripple Creek Saturday morning for the final tune.  Will also have the black cam chest vent line replaced with a Chromite line and reroute so it looks better, yet still functions.  There will be a few other minor clean-up jobs, but other than that, the 4K RPM limitation is about to be lifted.  Thumper is clean, Glared, covered and sitting in the garage just waiting to go to Lower Alabama for her final tune.  I'm planning to load her in the enclosed trailer for the trip down there and back, so I can allow for my rapid return to Huntsville.  Busy week next week, but Thumper will be ready for N. Georgia.  And about those final numbers.......................do you really want them?   ;D  :2vrolijk_21:

How about some pics of the cam plate vent when you get it re-routed? I am having the R&R cam plate installed this week while my motor is being put back together and was contemplating the routing. Thanks in advance.....chunngle

You may have already guessed that I never brought up the subject of TQ/HP numbers with Dennis, however when he interviewed me, he indicated the solution would likely bring approximately 107 lbs/ft TQ and a slightly lower HP number, in other words, one for one TQ.  The impressive part of the build is how quick the engine revs up.  It builds RPM quicker than anything I've ever ridden, which I'm guessing is the reason why I feel like a flag everytime I ride it.

Henry,

Fast reving is what I am after provided its not clutch slippage :).    You will be surprised at how many bikes you will have an advantage on even if they have the same numbers or better numbers than you due to how quick the motor turns up.   Some of the places you will really notice it is climbing in the mountains and coming out of the curves.

One for one is not a bad way to go as a starting point.   You should have that easily in this build.   I wouldnt be surprised if you would hit the most common goal of 115/110 for the 103's.    This was a pretty common target for a lot of people to maintain reliability and still give you that fun factor.

Harry...I think Dennis is very conservative, plus he has an honest Dyno.  I think Henry might be surprised with the numbers, but I can attest to the fact that his motor revs quickly...he's got a fun ride.

Harry, you've confirmed everything I've heard.  Shortly after we left for MV last week, I noticed I could get up Sewanee Mountain without effort.  The bike moves so easy now, and doesn't require near as much TQ to get going.  Really looking to seeing how the build turns out.

I think so too, Terry, and I do know his dyno ain't happy, which is a good thing.  A reliable, long lasting, honest engine is my goal.  Thumper's final numbers may end up higher than estimated, but as long as I can get on Thumper and go wherever I want without worrying about breaking, then I'm cool with that.

Be all that as it may..........Thumper sure is FUN!  The Girl can FLY!!!   :vrolijk_4:

I'll do the best I can to get pix posted in this thread shortly after I return home Saturday evening.  There's roughly 300 miles between here and there, and I will drive down, get the work done, and back in one day......plus loading/offloading time.  Needless to say, I'll be a spent pup when the day is done, but excited nonetheless to share the outcome with everyone here.  Let's just pray we can get everything done in one day.   :2vrolijk_21:  If not, then I must be back here Saturday night regardless, which means I won't get Thumper back home until the next weekend.

tis the reason i dont quote numbers. i can easily show big numbers/tune for them/prove them with percentages against other dynos, other correction factors, 4% for std vs sae, 250 shows 8% higher than 250I---------etc. i dont play smoke and mirror tricks. wanna compare dyno numbers? i hope yo got planty time and money. i do however play at the dragstrip from time to time, when customer allows, and i can tell a good build from a lazy one. i dont do lazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
