CVO Derby Cover Blues
« on: August 19, 2007, 04:08:34 PM »

Rode the bike yesterday, only put 50 miles on her and decided that today I should wash it since it was overcast outside.  This is only the third time it has been washed in her 575 miles...

Regular routine of washing, sprayer on mist setting, lambs wool mit, Meguiar's NXT Generation car was soap (pH balanced), etc...

Then it comes time to dry with several microfiber towels and look at what I found...  Guess I knew it was coming as another Razor Red SERK owner here in Louisville had it happen to him when I saw his bike in front of the dealership when I was admiring his new True Duals...

Are you going to try to get the dealer to warranty it?

This happened to me after one of the first times washing my SEEG. It is a warrantable item you just need to take bike back to dealer and have them order/replace it. You will not be able to keep the old one because it is a CVO proprietary item and will have to be returned to the MoCo.

The other SERK owner here in town got the dealer to replace it under warranty and he is waiting to his next service before having it replaced.  Anyone else have this happen yet?

I just went and checked mine on the '06 CUSE (the paint is red on the derby cover) and on the '07 SERK.  No paint missing yet.  It may just be on those fast red bikes.

Had that happen on the timer cover once and the derby cover once.  After the second replacement (both within the first six months or so) I sprayed the painted areas with a coat of Nyalic.  Two more years and (knock on wood [or Howie's bald head]) no dropped paint.

I've used the Dupli-color pens and they hold up real well, if yours is out of warranty  check your local auto parts store
