Well the saga has ended. I am no longer the proud owner of an 07 SE ultra. Last Tuesday the Motor Company purchased it back from me at 100% minus $500. for Mileage from new to 1200 (the time of the first service visit). I am happy to not have to deal with it any more but miss the bike. I have found a used 07 RK and have purchased it to have something to ride.

Actually the new motor and trans seemed to improve the noise and vibration and if this would have been done in the beginning and not after 7000 miles of agrevation I would still have it. But as most the large majority of bike owners, I bought it for relaxation and pleasure and that was not happening I want to thank the members of CVOHARLEY for the all of the information and suggestions,

This is a perfect example of why we need to maintain an '07 registry. Being that this bike was not purchased back under a "Lemon Law" there is no record of problems. Any future owner will not know of potential previous problems. Patbowdy, if you still know the VIN pleas post it in the registry.

Update 2007 FLHTCUSE2 oil leak @ 3950 miles: After 9 days in the shop, I got my bike back last Thursday. There was a national backorder on one of the cylinders which is why the wait was so long. They had the bike back together the same day the cylinder arrived. When I went to pick up the bike it was spotless with no evidence of major work. I must say again, these guys at Billerica HD have been great so far. I got 2 new cylinder/piston/ring kits along with the latest gaskets. While they were working on the bike, they also noticed the rear axle adjuster was bent (not sure how or when that happened, may have come that way from the factory), so they went ahead and replaced the adjuster and axle shaft under warranty. I chatted with the service manager for awhile. He told me that they have done 4 of the cylinder/piston kit fixes for head gasket leaks, and have replaced 4 motors due to excessive crank run out/failure so far. He assured me that any future problems with my bike would be taken care of. I put around 280 miles on it so far and so far so good. I'll just keep an eye on the cylinders for oil leaks and keep riding it for now.

Can someone please tell me  if the stock HD gaskets -07A are multilayer metal and have tabs sticking out each side with rivets in them?  From what I see and what I've read, it sounds like the cometic multilayer type.  I noticed while checking the new motor for leaks.

Thanks

They do have the pop-rivited tabs on them. I do not know what material they are made of but they are three layers.

Yes they look just like the Cometic Head Gaskets I have applied to my 06 98" build.

Sorry bud.  That seems to be the most common mileage for the DRHGL.  dreaded rear head gasket leak.  :-\It must real pis* you off to know that the 08s were not fitted with a fix for the 07 problem. Some where in Milwaukee some conference room has been designated the "War Room" to discuss these issues.  Or should be.

hi im new here.i was told that part of these problems were from the motor not breathing like it should because of the emissions making heat build up in the motor.does anyone know if this is true.

Poor design, quality of parts + lean fuel management = disaster

Has any dealer or did HD actually acknowledge a [new] fix that really works for the dreaded gasket leak yet?  I have 9,500 miles and a leak that I did not have fixed yet.  Rich :nixweiss:

Rich,
Some have posted that HD admitted a problem with the cylinder sleeves slipping.  I have not heard of anyone confirming any new part numbers besides the head gaskets. Your issue will be will they do both F&R to keep things in balance?  You should al;so have the crank runout checked while its apart for the fix.
