chief, as you said, what about the liner issue?

Are they changing these in pairs, or just the leaker?  Do you think the thickness may be different causing different compression?

That was the first thing I thought about Phil. If these gaskets are 0.050" as stated somewhere here, that would lower compression to about 8.8-8.9:1. Meaning they're taking something away from the components that should have been properly matched by HD during design to work together. Maybe that stock junk can't handle the pressure, so they lowered the CR purposely. :o ???

Gaskets won't fix liner issues, only gasket issues. It's evident the 07A gasket didn't work, even for those with slipped liners. If the liners haven't slipped, which requires individual inspections, then a different gasket may seal it up like a gasket should.

Every case is taken on a one at a time basis. As far as I know there is no unilateral policy on parts replacement.

Nice to be on back on it Phil. But with only 4-5 mile stints at a time, I only got 20 miles on it today. Oil never got over 143 deg. After the oil change this weekend at 50 miles, I'll be able to start riding it a little more. I'm doing it Vern's way though! ;)

Good to hear that you are riding again. :2vrolijk_21:
My replacement engine has only 220 miles on it due to weather. Darn!

I'd put that the leak is fixed in that category, too.

For at least a few thousand miles, that is.  Remember, HD Tech support told me they take each bike on a case by case basis and that there is no leak issue.

The MoCo has been building leaky bikes for over 100 years, they have it mastered...Of all the leaky HD's I've had, never had a head gasket leak...

Well, I hope to get mine back from shop this weekend.  Had the 1k service done on it and rode aprox 70mi.  Had to pull in to a dealer due to oil coming out of air intake.  They took it apart and I'm getting both cylinders replaced, sleeve movement.  Not even 1200 mi yet.  I've reached the point where I can't recommend the 110 to anyone.  I'll keep hoping it won't break down on my long tour rides.  That is why I got her.

I was talking to a HD dealer in the States yesterday where I order my parts & he admitted they are have all kinds of problems with the 110"s and hopes the MoCo figures things out.

This is a significantly worse situation than I 've read here.  What year is your CVOL?  Sorry to here about this situation.  Please verify that you are getting the new gaskets as well.  Also, what mods have you had done, Stage1?  SERT?

Thanks and good luck

I bought a new 2008 on Feb 7. No modifications made, pure stock CVO Ultra.  The dealer doing the work knows about the new gaskets.  I'm planning on getting a SERT added in the hope of cooling the engine. Also getting an oil temp gauge to replace the air temp gauge.  I want to spend time riding the bike.  Five weeks with a bike and two have been spent in shop.
