I've taken many advanced riding courses for years (as many of you have)and felt that I knew the limits of my prior bike and my skills. I use to grind off the floorboards off the Road King and replaced them every once in a while until I was taught how to corner just as hard without grinding. I mostly worried about the engine guard hitting, then it would be a real bad day!

I touched down on my 03 RK plenty. Mostly on rough roads but smooth as well. Sure you can hang off like some squid on a gixxer, but it dont look right on a Harley. Best just to take the corner real smooth and if you touch, you touch. Panicking wont help. Hogs handle better than they look like they would.  :skull:

Well, I'd have to agree, but sometimes looking good doesn't get the job done.  :huepfenlol2:  Especially if ya screw up and hit the corner way..too...hard... and you're right, doing the panick thing and as many will do, let off the throttle or braking will greatly increase your chances of going down. Of course the only action is to adjust position and look uncool and throttle up a tad to keep the bike from lowering any more than it is. Or..... slow down before a corner. Nah...that's wouldn't be any fun... :huepfenjump3:

Worn hard parts are like badges of honor. :2vrolijk_21:  You can replace the brackets and board if/when it becomes unsightly.  Until then, ride the bike as hard as you want to, just ride within your limits.

Kinda says it accurately, extended floorboards and lowered suspension do not lend themselves to aggressive cornering without some grinding........... :nixweiss: Ah, but little kids love the sparks.

You'd be surprised at how much just angling your upper body enough to look just over the clutch/brake reservoir will help too...no need to hang your butt off then.

Don't grind nearly as much now as before I got the Traxxion...it doesn't bother me to grind parts, but it never fails to startle me for a millisecond.

Bubba_T had his 03 SERK shipped out here since he's going to be in the area for 6 months on assignment. I rode it home from San Diego H-D where Allied dropped it off and managed to drag his True-Track hard going around a corner at about 70.

I will answer the title of this thread for Bubba
