Just picked this up on Monday. I'm going to be retiring at the end of the year and we plan to do some toy hauling. I'll pick up a used fifth wheel toy hauler, around 38' to 42' that would allow us to live in it for a few months at a time.
Not knowing if we're going to be thrilled with this venture, I don't want to dedicate a ton of money into it right at the start. I think I'm good with this type of thing, done it in the past, but the Mrs is NOT so much in tuned with this type of living. We'll see how it goes next summer.
So when looking at used 1 ton trucks, you sometimes have to jump on a deal even if you're not quite ready to jump. I've been looking and this came up about 125 miles from me, but in the same state. Mechanically it's in good shape, but the interior up front needs a couple cushions replaced and a lot of TLC cleaning. I also purchased a 3/yr 36k mile Powertrain Plus Warranty. So basically everything from the hubs in and front to rear is covered with a $100 deductible.
Not bad looking for a '12 with 160k on it. The RAM Cummins Diesel 6.7L has a great reputation and that's the selling factor for on the RAM. I'm a GM guy inside/out, but I think the RAM will do just fine for us.
