I would not call it a rumor as the guy is the owner of the HD dealership in NY . I was asking if any one has had the issue..

Ask TC to check out his V-Rod forum for history on them.  Large audience there all of whom will have had plenty of horsepower and opportunity to tear up the part.  Certainly a larger cohort than whatever incidences might have caught the memory of a single dealer.

I haven't heard of anyone having an issue with the rubber self-destructing or "tear apart".  I have read that on some of the Japanese bikes with them that if the rubber is exposed to the elements for a long period of time, the rubber pieces can harden, reducing the effectiveness of the "cush-drive".  But nowhere in my research on the web, can I find any evidence of the HD, or any others for that matter, "cush-drives"/IDS coming apart on anyone.
That opinion is just based on my personal research and not on personal experience as I haven't had mine installed long enough to see if there will be any negative things happening to the rubber dampers.

I'd also be concerned about almost twice the TQ and lugging all the extra weight we have, compared to VRods. ;)
