No doubt!!!  Actually you are a part of why I went ahead with my 08. I was looking for the bike that just had "it" ( kinda like Jessica Alba) Since I plan on keeping for a long long time I said what the hell. If you can put that much into making something yours than it must be worth it!!!!!! :bananarock:

I'm still extremely optimistic, in spite of all the issues. I've continued to say that this ain't rocket science. It's been no small task however, with the engine portion, and is requiring more than I ever expected. The rest of the stuff, suspension and brakes, weren't unknowns. That's by my choice. And although the engine has been the main challenge, it should be upgraded now to the point where I shouldn't have to worry.

Very worst case scenario is total aftermarket engine replacement, which I'd be prepared to do. Not happy about it, but prepared to do it anyway. That's how much I love this bike. They'll never make these things again, and only the $ scare people from understanding how special these bikes can be. I wouldn't be doing all this if I didn't think this was the best RK they ever built and it was worth keeping. If I were buying it as investment, or planning on trading it in, I wouldn't have proceeded this way. But this is a keeper to me and I'll get it just the way I want it in the end! ;)

Thanks Casey! I hope so too man. This should do it now. If anything's gonna break now, it will be in the bottom end. Should that happen, it's new 110 motor time. I'll drop an S&S 124 in it in the interim, and rebuild the new 110 motor from the bottom up, using the new top end stuff in it now. Then I'll figure out what to do with the second motor! ::)

Hope to see you again in MV? :2vrolijk_21:

Don't want to sound overly optimistic here, but I will be somewhat optimistic right now. Feuling shipped all their stuff out, and it will be at the dealer by Fri. That takes care of the camplate, oil pump, Hi Tensile cyl. studs and headbolts, all new ARP top end and cover hardware, and .120" Racing Pushrods! Wes is shipping everything but the Axtell Solid Barrels out today, and should be at the dealer by tomorrow or Fri. That's the reworked heads and forged pistons-both Thermal Coated, rings, and new Cometic Gasket Set. The Barrlels should be completed tomorrow and drop-shipped from Axtell to the dealer, and also be there by Fri. I can't believe every aspect of this mess, since the beginning, has come down to the wire. I'm fortunate to be working with all stand-up people, Wes-Cycle-rama, Luke-Feuling, and Bogie-NRHD, who have all met every committment they've made so far. If all the parts show up by Fri as promised, this bike should be back together by Mon or Tues.

I'll be thrilled with that. I'll get some good miles on it next week after heat cycling the engine first. This might even allow me to cancel the trailer I have reserved, and ride up to Neal's on Fri instead That would make me very happy!!!

No jumping sausages yet, but I will remain cautiously optimistic for now. More after the weekend! ;)

That is great news, Howie.  Do you plan to put it back on the dyno at some point and verify you still have the same results?

Yes I do Scott. The plan right now is to start the motor on the existing PC map. I'll heat cycle it and break it in that way. I hope to ride up to Neal's and down to MV that way too. Probably about 3000 miles this way. I spoke with Joe and told him I plan on keeping the SERT. I want him to tune it with the SERT, then retune it with the PC. If he gets a better tune with the PC, I'll keep it on and have the SERT'd ECM as a backup. If he gets a great tune from the SERT, I'll remove the PC. But one more good session on the Dyno should do it after this! ;)

These guys here must think I'm nuts going thru all of this. While that might be true, this whole package must be properly matched and tuned, for me to be satisfied with it. Whatever it takes to get it right. If I can get on my bike after this, and have a few years of enjoyable trouble-free riding, it'll all have been worthwhile! If not, I won't feel too bad about putting an aftermarket motor in, knowing I've done all I could to take care of this POS 110" motor. Something the MoCo hasn't even attempted to do for us. If they have, they sure do a lousy job executing and showing it!!! :nixweiss:

Hey, Howie, good luck with the ol' Hot Rod there.  I think you got 'er nailed this time, as long as the bottom end survives what you did up top! :nervous:  Looking forward to seeing you get back on the road with that machine you are so passionate about and wish I could be in MV with ya, but will have to view this one from afar. :(

Thanks a lot Brian. I know you know where I'm coming from! HUH? :nixweiss:

I think there's nothing left that could be done up top. The bottom will always concern me. But that will only happen once to me! 3 strikes and your out. This is the 3rd try for this motor. I'll call it a foul ball. One more strike and this motor's history.

Too bad you can't make it down there. I wonder if we'll add any numbers after 0002? ;)
