Looking for winter project
« on: September 10, 2007, 07:19:23 AM »

Ported stock heads or HTCC CNC'ed heads? I have them both. Stock heads are still stock. If I have them, which ones should I have massaged? Also what cam should I switch to? Have S&S 585g now. Looking for a little more TQ. Pulling a big bike. Used to be pulling a short fat dude too... with my other situation going on a have shed a lot of beef! LOL! Sorry, my mind drifted. Any info you got would be great! Not doing anything till the snow flies. Just doing some research.

tommyo, you first decision should be cam choice. bike weight, your weight, gearing, riding style (hot rodder/long distance cruiser/ 2 up on mountain roads, etc:)

you then work the heads for flow, velocity, compression to match cam.

if you insist on running a particular pipe, be sure and tell your builder, as some choices will be dictated by pipe choice.

consulting with your head guy/builder will save lots of money and make the difference between what you wanted and what you wind up with. they should be the same after all!

NOT!!! I tell him to keep everything. Other than his Fat Boy which was a nice bike just not big enough for him and his gal... he gets bored, this new bike he gets will be gone by summer for an '09. I've had 2 bikes in 4 years and he has had 3 in 2 years. You tell me. Dont even get me started about how many trucks he has had in his life either...LOL!

To think I thought getting rid of them when they needed tires was extreme. :huepfenlol2:

Mikey,

Did you decide which upgrade you are doing well is it the 103, 107 or are you going for the gusto and doing the 113?

Easy Harry... I have to be able to keep up. I can cover him in the corners but if we get on the open road... forget it. I'm only good till 120 mph!
