OK in 03 I paid 30,000 for my SERK. 4 months ago I was toying with buying a newer bike.......................well after they ( the dealer ) told me my bike was only extra chrome and a different paint job.............15,400 is all they offered..............I love my bike and don't have a gripe with the MoCo. But never again........... :soapbox:

Bikes and cars are not investments.  I understand your frustration at getting less for the bike than you had hoped, but 50% after 5 years is not TOO bad.  A BMW would have probably gone down more, and I know that a Japanese bike would have.

The dealer told me they could not give me in trade what my bike would sell for if I sold it myself.  I was told the newer (larger) engines and 6 speed transmissions killed the resale of the older, 5 speed bikes.  I went ahead and traded it for a new one anyway - can't take it with you!

I didn't trade my last bike in -- sold it myself.
I had an 02 Ultra paid $20800 for it new in August 2002.  Sold it August 2007 for $14900.  I didn't think I did too bad  :nixweiss:

Surely an 03 SERK would be worth a lot more than an 02 (non-SE) Ultra

That's been discussed here in several threads.  Extended warranty are negotiable and can be bought at any dealership, regardles of where you bought the bike provided that the bike is still under factory warranty.  I negotiated with my local dealer to get 7 years and tires at 15% discount.  You might check some of the dealerships like Chicago HD where they offer a 20% discount.

She is the Assistant GM of Tri County HD Fairfield OH, 513-874-4343.  She offers discounts to memebers on the site.  There are other messages on the site, I gave it a try and worked perfect, she is very nice and offered future discount off anything I may need.

Call Jenny for your extended warranty.  I bought 5 year with tire/wheel and was around $1150.
I'd try Chicago HD or Zinotti's.  $1150 with Wheel/tire hazzard warranty, is the price my dealer quoted me right off of the "factory" ESP brochure for a 5 year (3 beyond factory) ESP.  I'm going to call Chicago HD and see what they're offering for the 5 year.  I don't think you got any discount from Jenny if that's what she quoted you.   :nixweiss:

It's obivious they charge what they want.  The dealer I bought the bike from (TN) was $1600 for the extended 5 year w/tire.  I checked 3 dealers in my immidate area (DFW) and got quotes from $1699 to $1899 NO tire/wheel.  So the call was worth it for me.  Also, price goes up after 2000 miles or 60 days which ever comes first.

Also, the 5 year is in additon to the 2 factory, so total of 7, contract expires April 2015.

That's a big difference...if you got the 7-year ESP for that price, that is a good deal. ;)  I paid 1850 for the 7-year and wheel/tire road hazzard warranty on my SEUC.  I misunderstood your post, I thought you were talking about the 5-year ESP, not the 7-year.

I got my FLHRSE4 at MSRP plus freight and set up fees from Neidengrads HD of Wintersville, OH just west of Pittsburg.

They are Ohio's oldest family owned dealer, 100+ years, 3 generations. They always sell at MSRP on all bikes is what the claim.
