overheard a conversation about my bike
« on: September 15, 2007, 12:48:55 PM »

I went to Delmarva bike week on Thur & Fri this week, and stayed in a condo my brother has. parked the bike right below the window on Thursday night, wasn't sure how good the neighborhood was, so I opened the window a little so I could hear if something was going on in the parking lot.

About an hour later, heard a couple guys talking near all the bikes in the lot (about 8 bikes all parked next to each other)

anyway, they were looking over my bike, the first guy was commenting on engine and the chrome, etc, and the other responds engine is a POS and that the blue was the ugliest color that the MOCO ever came out with etc. I never brag about anything I buy, when I buy anything, it is because it is what I want, not to show off. The next morning at breakfast, I tell my riding buddys the story, and one of them asks, what were they riding, I reply an older Dyna (my first harley was Dyna) and a honda shadow. He said I should have said something about their rides (which I would never diss someone else's ride), and I ask him why, it didn't bother me at all, and everyone is entitled to their opinion, and it wasn't said directly in front of me (I was evesdropping). He's actually funny about talking to other guys at rides, dealerships, etc, he will stand there and carry on about his bike, my bike and how great they are and stuff (when you can see that the people he is talking to are starting to get that glazed over look in their eyes), usually the point I go get a smoke or get a drink, etc, hoping that he gets the hint ???

No point to this story, except that my buddy was more irritetated about it than I was, and he has an bad habit of dissing other people's rides, and I was bored and figured I'd share.....lol :)

I'm curious, which one was making the negative comments, the Dyna guy or the honda guy?

LOL...there's no accounting for taste.  He's probably read all the threads on here about 110's and probably thinks that everyone has the same problems... :P  Either that, or it was just stone cold jealousy on his part....or even more realistic, he was trying to impress his new Honda buddy as to why he was going to buy a new VTX instead of a new HD. :o
Cheers :2vrolijk_21:,

It's sorta like Howie telling me this weekend.....For the money he spent on his RoadKing, he could have bought a standard roadking and a SuperGlide too. I responded..Yea, then you'd have TWO bikes that don't run worth a dam.
