I started off w/rice rockets and after a little spill and a 2yr hiatus; I got a Night Rod Special. I thought wow this is the most comfortable ride I've ever been on. My wife however didn't care for it "its a little better than the Ninja" she said and wanted me to get something w/armrests. Told her the only tour bus I would ever own would have to be a Screamin' Eagle. So w/her permission I got one. At first I said this F'n thing is way too big, now that I'm used to it, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm 29 y/o so I ain't no geezer yet, but I am whipped and I think I'm happy.................... :huepfenjump3: :confused5:

Yep, that's why they make some many different models.

I've had about every style & size bike out there and they all have different purposes.  I now like a bike that I can get on and ride 400 - 500 miles in a day and then feel like doing it again the next day.  The SERK is a great (and pretty comfortable) bike, but I really like my SEUC.  I guess you have to get comfortable with the size and weight......I can maneuver my SEUC as well as anyone can on any other bike - slow speed - high speed - and curves.

I think the SEUC is for those that appreciate the finer things in life :2vrolijk_21:

Guys, you are right about having to get used to a bike.  Rode Jap bikes in the 70s & 80s - 750s & 850s which I had dressed out with fairing, bags, trunks, etc.  But after a few year haitus for daughter to finish jr & sr high I got an Ultra in '99.  Whoa, man this thing is HUGE and HEAVY and HARD TO HANDLE.  But after having ridden ultras now for 8 years they don't feel big at all and I am totally confident handling them.  Just what you get accustomed to.  I like the protection, the audio system, the cruise control, etc.  Makes rolling down the highway very enjoyable.

Hoist

Couldn't agree with you more. Had an 07 Street Glide with 110. She was a beautiful scooter but I felt unattached from the road. Lost the nimble feeling. Got the SERK and have not missed the SG at all. Don't need a radio, I have a great voice. :D

I like riding other scooters. Hell, I like riding any scooter. But the SERK is the one that stirs me. ;)

Ok, if someone says "let's have a group hug" I'm going to puke!  :huepfenlol2: I loved my RK and it is different from the Ultra that I now have. However, with that being said, the Dyna Wide Glide I had before the RK was awesome. Nothing like a parachute bike getting ya in the wind. But, it's a been there, done that, and now I'm old and like the music, heated butt, cruise, GPS and all the other junk on the Ultra. Life is good. If I could just make the bike payment, it would be better.  :huepfenlol2:

Howie,
Thanks for your review of an FD.  I used to say I'd never own own one.  I was a Softail man before I bought my first FD.  Renea never did much traveling with me, but I used ride solo between Clarksville, TN and Enterprise, AL alot in 2003-04.  Shortly before our move from Clarksville to Enterprise, Renea and I did a day trip on the Softail from Clarksville to Sikeston, MO and back in one day.....about 350 miles round trip.  I had a blast, but despite the Mustang seat, Renea was hurtin'.  By the time we got home that evening, she was really bitchin'......."I aint never gettin' on that thing.........."I hate that thing"...."It isn't pretty anymore"......"if you ever want me to ride with you again, you're gonna hafta get a bigger bike, 'cause I aint gettin' a bigger butt!"  OK woman...........twist my arm.  So I scoped out an Ultra in July of 2004.  Enter my blue Baby Girl, the 02 Ultra.  I never knew I could love a Bagger, but from the moment my feet left the asphalt, I knew that scooter was mine.  I was, and still am a FD Bagger man.  We racked up the miles after that........especially being in south Alabama............so close to the beach.  We rode constantly.  I've ridden RKs.  Absolutely love those bikes.  They're awesome.  I WILL own one, one day.  I think they're great, BUT........my choice is a FD.  Totally appreciate, understand, and respect your viewpoint.  We all have our preferences.  They're both Baggers.  They're both comfortable.  An RK gets you down the road, and you know your riding a scooter.  A FD gets you down the road, and you know you're riding a scooter..........and so much more!  I love it.

Thanks Bro.

The difference between RK & UC drivers is like the old joke[pg version]: old bull and young bull see large herd of cows; young bull says, "hey Pop, let's run down the hill and kiss a couple of them;" old bull replies, "No, son, let's walk down the hill and kiss them all".  Me and my SEUC are walking down the hill......

Very well said.

As a young whippersnapper I rode small 2 cycle ying yingers and laughed at the big bore 2 cycles.  Then I rode
them.....more fun.

Next I was greatly amused at anyone who would ride a street bike. Then I owned several street rice rockets and.......
of course we ate Harleys for lunch.  Also breakfast, dinner, and the occasional midnight snack.  Was quite a bit of fun
to pull up next to some guy who had a fortune invested in a hot rod version of his Harwee (other names also), and
then walk off from them on 1 wheel sometimes..........  slow down, let 'em catch up, then walk off again even. More fun.

Then, I had no bike for several years.  When I looked, I bought a <gasp> Road King Classic. With cruise control and a <double gasp> windshield. Salesman showed me an Ultra which I termed "some old guys bike".  Other salesman laughed since the saleman who was showing me the Ultra (younger than me) had just bought one. I bought the RK and chuckled.

A few years later I bought an Ultra.........then I read Howie's post.

I never laugh at the Beemers or Gold Wings, thank God, considering my bike ownership trends.  ;D
