"What goes around comes around"

Chip, are you suggesting that Howie in some way deserved learning the hard way that roadside assistance that was assumed to be part of HOG membership or warranty in fact was not?  I'm assuming that sounded different than you really meant it to.  If I'd been fighting engine related issues since a vendor supplied me parts and occasionally complained about it would I deserve it if I found out my roadside assistance program wasn't what I thought it was?

I know I was surprised to discover from this ordeal that the roadside assistance that was assumed to be part of the package was not.  It sucks to hear of any of us having to suffer through major hassles just to get off the road and get a tire fixed.

I think my insurance has a roadside assist component.  I thought the lifetime HOG membership has a roadside assist component.  I know that before leaving for MV I'll be doing a bit of homework on both to refresh my memory and find out for sure.

Howie, the following link is from the website detailing the various service packages (Deluxe, Ultra and Ultra Plus).  This is the "Deluxe" package.  There wasn't a smaller option offered on the website detailing the plans.

The "Deluxe" package does say that "repeated service calls for a covered vehicle in need of routine maintenance or repair" is an exclusion.  But that's not roadside failure.  In another section it specifically says:

(2.) Flat Tire Assistance –Towing assistance will be provided if needed

Nowhere can I find a limitation of service to one service per annum.  Is there even finer fine print someplace else?  Is yours a different package than this one?  Or did they just screw you?

DON:
The three packages are additional level payments even for life member (yearly)

While your checking you may also want check what happens when they come to get you and discover that you are pulling a trailer. (they may or may not send a roll back) The HOG towing package only covers your (HD) bike.

The Basic HOG mebership includes a one time (a 12 month period) assit this is included in your membership (no additional charge) if you have not used them you should be covered. That information was in the last flyer (ad) in the enthuesit Mag.

The rules are very fluid.

You may want to take a look at the pdf file attached. This was taken from the HOG website and states you only get one tow per year w/the standard service.

I think in an about the information the service has a $250 ceiling.

Also they say; "Coverage is extended for each Harley-Davidson motorcycle owned by the HOG Member (with a maximum of two (2) motorcycles per member) "

If you are fortunate enough to be a multi bike family, you will be covered for each of your motorcycles, as long as it is not more than 2.   :confused5:

The insurance is handy.  Better than a total kick in the pants.  But so far, for our family, it has not been what one thougt it was.  And we have not yet heard about timely .........

When looking over the HOG program after hearing of Howie's escapade I saw the trailer exclusion.  My insurance's quickie explanation page didn't mention trailers one way or another.  So there's a call pending now asking for verification and confirmation.

Having fun on a bike shouldn't be so damned administrative and obnoxious.

Don, I'm SURE he could not possibly have meant that because that would have just been hateful and karma has a way of biting people when they least expect it. I'm sure he wouldn't want ME to be stranded on the side of the road either.

No Don, it sounds exactly like I meant it.
I can only hope you didn't interpret it as a slam on Hoist.
He has enough problems on his own.

That response was to Nidan's post about being treated like gold by your dealer.

As I said Nancy and I are both treated like gold by our dealer.
Read the post from AK about his visit to Harley Davidson of Charlotte.
My point is that my dealer treats us well and that is returned by us to them.
If I want a new bike and ABC dealer has a killer deal, I take it to my dealer and he has always equaled or beaten any deal out there.
If I find clothes or accessories in BFE dealership I can call Jennifer in motorclothes and it's in Charlotte by the time I get home. The same with service, the same with parts. I can make a call and get a truck to pick up my bike at midnight from a concert if I have a flat tire. That has happened, and they took the bike to the dealership and then took me home. That Don, is years of loyal patronage. Is there a cost for that? I'm sure there is. But when some people were paying 5K over MSRP for a SEEG, I wrote a check for $29,066.00 out the door.
As I said, what goes around comes around.

I'm sorry you misunderstood my comments earlier. I should have made them clearer.

OK?

Also read Binx's post above, she's a smart lady and knows what's going on!

Cool.  Glad to hear (read) it.  Especially when the chips (no pun intended  :huepfenlol2: ) are down folks on two wheels need to know we look out for each other.

As an FYI, State Farm does NOT offer towing for motorcycles even though I have it on my cars

Ask Hoist,

When leaving to go to Hot Springs I told him if he got within 500 miles of North Carolina and had a problem I would come and get him.
Unfortunately it grenaded long before that!

That's why I posted using his own quotes how crazy (my words) it would be to try and ride that grenade with Binx on the back to Maggie Valley.  Your right, we need to look out for each other.
