I just finished an eval on lifts and chose a Quality Lift (also, this is the same lift as K&L Lifts...either Quality makes the K&L, or vice versa).  All lifts are manufactured in China (except for Handy).  Expect to pay a premium for the Handy.  I chose the Quality Lift because I installed a RaceDeck floor in my garage and didn't want the lift's wheels marring up the floor.  The Quality Lift/K&L has a track for the wheels, so they don't actually roll on the floor.  This lift was more $$ than others I looked at, but I can attest to its quality.  The Quality Lift also had some accessories that I liked.

I'd stay away from some of the cheap lifts...you get what you pay for (I read a post from a guy who bought a less expensive lift and it wouldn't rise to the height advertised.  Another guy complained the manufacturer of his lower priced lift wouldn't stand behind the warranty).

Lastly, be sure to buy the side extensions...w/o these you'll have no place to put your feet if you ride onto the lift.  I'd also reccommend a center jack.  Attached is a pic from the K&L site.

Old post or not, the one point stands - Handy is the ONLY made in the USA lift!  I know when you are dealing with purchasing decisions regarding China vs USA made and when the quality is the same, it's hard not to go with the import when it's much cheaper.

However, the point is, Handy has always been considered the best of the best quality-wise, and being 100% American made was the clincher for me. When you have an American firm that is constantly the one all others are compared to, who stand behind their products, and offer a fair value, it's almost unpatriotic not to support them, IMHO.  Nothing less than Handy is welcome in my Garage, fwiw.

Thought Superlifts were US domestic production?  And though jacks not lifts the J&S products are US domestic also.  My own table lift came from a little company outside of Aurora, MO that did all the stamping and other work here but did use an imported cylinder.

BLM777 I purchased the complete motorcycle lift and love it! 1500 lb rating. I got the lift, side extensions, vise, and a jack for $799! I think this is a great buy and have not had any issues with mine so far. Good luck!   FACE

That does seem like a very good deal for a very robust looking lift.  Brian built that house six years or so ago.  Then it burned down (oops).  Then they built it again (stubborn).  So he's probably got whatever lift he ended up with well broke in by now (might have even thrown a mattress on it for awhile!).  But still like the look of this lift.
