This past weekend was the Atlanta 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk to benefit the Susan G. Komen organization. (2,500 walkers and $6.6 million dollars raised).

Sunday afternoon got pretty hairy a couple of times when I'm pulled over on a busy 4-lane waiting with a walker to be picked up because they couldn't make it and cars are whizzing by at 50 mph just a few feet away from the bike. Not a very comfortable situation.
I have installed some little Street Glow white strobes front and rear of the bike to increase visibility. They SUCK!!!!! Sure, when it's pitch freakin dark, they look pretty cool and work well, but when the sun is out, they're almost useless.
I have found some little LED units by Whelen, TIR3, that are very popular on Police bikes, but they're a bit too pricey for me. I need 8 and the best price I've found is about $60 each.
I am looking for a way to get 8 of these lights donated to support the cause. I have tried through the local LEO supply house, but I'm not a 501(c)(3) charity, although what I'm doing supports one, so they couldn't/wouldn't help. I also don't know the right way to approach them about it. I'm lousy begging.
Does anyone here have any contacts or experience that may get me pointed in the right direction? Are you affiliated with a Fire or Police Dept. that has any of these lights, new or used, that could be donated? Hints? Tips?
Anything you can do to get me closer to getting these on the bike would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Chuck
