We passed a lot of Churches, and it seemed a lot of animal hospitals.
In one small town we passed these Churches. There were four in a row on this side of the street and one directly across the street, has to be a record.

Besides Churches and animal hospitals I think we must have passed 400 plus roadside memorials. Many were for 2 and 3 victims and a couple with 4 and 5. One we passed somewhere in South Carolina at an intersection must have had 20 markers.
The picture below is not mine, just posting to show what I am referring to.

We met a couple of riders on the bridge crossing over into Georgia, spent a good 45 minutes shooting the breeze with these "kids"
They told us that when we first passed them one said to the other "hey look, some day that will be us on the geezer bikes"
Well after talking to them for a while they were quite jealous that we were on the road for almost 2 weeks just doing what we want - ride. And we assured them, when they get "older" maybe they can do the same  :2vrolijk_21:

We saw some dark clouds up ahead and we were slowing down to stop so Glenn could make some phone calls. Good thing we did, because on the opposite side of this street is a trooper shooting radar.

We only went a few miles past this point before the sky opened up with rain, wind and a fancy electrical show.

The sign on the door behind me

We pulled into Athens, GA for the night.
It rained hard enough that the bikes didn't even get dirty. The hotel staff allowed us to keep the bikes right out front under cover and gave us some towels to dry off. The only day we were checked in before 6pm

Crossing into Tennessee .... we actually took some side roads that popped up on the GPS and had a nice ride. This sign is typical of the TN border welcome signs, very plain. Notice the statewide speed limit sigh just below?

We stopped at a new bike outfitter in Tellico so Glenn could get rain gear (he didn't), but I got a great pair of insulated riding pants that were on sale.

And then onto the

Bald River Falls, just off the Cherohala, another lack luster waterfall.

One of the neat things about GPS is that you can "see" around blind turns to see which way the road is going
