3300 miles in 2 months.  Picked her up 8/31. Installed oil temp in crankcase (not the oil lines). At 80 degrees ambient, it runs about 210 degrees doing 80 mph on the freeway. At 50 degrees it runs about 190 (freeway).  In slower traffic (at 80 degrees ambient) it runs about ~230 degrees.  I've done service at 1000 and 2500 miles. No leaks yet. Top end seemed noisy at first but got quieter after putting on some miles.

I like this motor!....(knock on wood) :2vrolijk_21:.

Interesting...  Your temperatures sound identical to mine on my 07 SEUC - I also installed crankcase mounted oil temperature gauge -  same service intervals - same noise results (except I clearanced my rocker boxes) - just identical - right up to where my rear head gasket started leaking at about 5000 miles.

I truly hope you do not have the same experience with yours... :2vrolijk_21:  good luck

just a smooth running richer mixture and cooler engine temps.

Deucedog, I have the fuel enrichment device on order from Nightrider.  It's been talked about before here and is being sold till the end of the month for $50.  It plugs into each O2 sensor and tricks the ECM into delivering 14.2AFR instead of 14.6.  It's not as good as the SERT, but it's cheap and undetectable by Harley.  Here's the link, check it out.  http://www.nightrider.com/parts/catalog00.htm

I have 5000 miles on my 08 Ultra and have no oil leaks. Installed Screaming Eagle Race Tuner and Rinehearts and Dyno'd bike after first 1000 miles. Runs cooler and stronger but I do have that crazy pinging with a full load.

3500+ miles without any problems. It is completely stock for now. It does seem to run pretty hot. I plan to install RHTDs, PCIII, and SEAC in January. Hopefully, it will cool things down a bit.

Bike was extremely hot running when I first got it.  Waited till the 500 mile service, then added a power commander with the 02 sensor eliminators and had already cut the catalytic converters off the front of the baffles and knocked that damn plug out of it.  The bike runs smoother and cooler now.  Only have about 600 miles on it, but it runs extremely good so far since those minor changes.  Running Amsoil as I always have.  Looking to put a k&n filter on it that looks like the heavy breather, but apparently they dont make one yet.  Ride em like you stole em.

6000 Miles! It's good for a feedback !
Sorry for you mr_magoo and Gregory.

After the differents answers, it seems that the '08 have less major problems than '07.
After an official letter to HD France,
Friday, I'll start a discussion with my dealer for the replacement of my '07.
The choice for a '08 is probably a better choice than to stay with mine.

Surely, my dealer will propose me to repair my engine, to dismount all my bike for the rust on the welds of the frame but without an official recall of HD, this model is marked in Red on the used market.

I'll inform you later.

Best regards

Jacques

Hi Jacques,
What did happen to the "07"?
Be sure to look at the "08" difficulties closely.  Remember the 08's are 07 repeats with a little upgrade to attract customers.
Just a thought.
I am presently fighthing my "07" CUSE2 to keep it on the road.

Best Regards,
George(vagabond6542)

Good morning George,

My problems are not solved : leaks and rust on the welds of the frame.
It's my decision because my dealer made me an offer that it was not possible to refuse.
I wait a casper '08 for the spring but perhaps it'll arrive before.

I've no warranty from the dealer that the problems will solved on the '08.
I've said him : I know ! The problems are not solved.
I hope an official solution from HD before the delivery .....

I think the little upgrades improves the fiability, particularly the 50mm TB.
But it's not enough !

Best regards
Jacques
