I put the Kuryakin shields on.  They really help a lot with the heat.

The glue they supplied did not work, it stayed sticky and gooey, even overnight.  I scraped it all out and used 5min epoxy.

They seem to fit a little loose, but when riding there is no movement or rattle.  They have worked well for about 800 miles.

I like the look better than the HD shields, and would do it again.

That seems very pricey for heat deflectors, unless you're looking for ones with "bling".  HD's version, part number 58022-07A, goes for $64.95 (I got them for $52.00 at Chicago Harley), and they look great and work great.  Have not noticed any increase in operating temp, but definitely a lot less heat on the legs.

Red,

Thanks, I guess I missed the fact that HD made these heat deflectors.  Any issue with mounting them?  I would assume since they are HD parts, that they fit without any issue.

The only issue with mounting them is the top allen screw on the right side.  The allen wrench that comes with the shields is too long and the rocker box interferes with tightening them.  If you get them, you'll see what I mean.  All you have to do is cut the allen wrench down a little and it fits with no problem.  Other then that, the install is a breeze.

Red,

Would it be possible to post pics of your bike with the heat deflectors?  The pics in the HD parts doesn't really show a good view.  I'm thinking I want to go this route.  Thanks

HH,
I'm picking my ride up from the dealer tomorrow, so I'll post some as soon as I can.

I have the Kuryakyn Saddle Heat shields. No problem mounting; however, I used a some of the 3M red emblem two sided tape to hold them in place and keep a real tight fit to the frame; works great.

Melted?  That's a frightening thought.  As far as the shield is going to be from the rear head and jug just think about the poor harnesses that exist much closer to them.

I use the Kurakyn Saddle Shields and think they are great.  Easy to install and make a ton of difference.  I swapped bikes with a couple of friends last year during the heat of the summer and they both ended up adding the shields...  Plus, I think they look good, too...

The way it fits on the left side, it's only 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the pipe.  It's a small spot right there.  Maybe it's just the fit on my bike, or maybe it's the Texas heat!

Definitely.  2-1s should solve any left side heat issues :2vrolijk_21: !

But doesn't that give the same amount of heat on the right side as with the stock headers with crossover?  :nixweiss:

I went with the rjsoriginals also.  Before I purchased them, I took the Kuryakyn shield off my Road Glide and put on the 110.  It was too much heat for the Kuryakyn shields.  The rjsoriginals cost twice as much but IMHO offer twice as much protection.  Plus they look like an extension of the saddle.  Check out the photo.  You would think that a $35000 bike would have this type of protection.
