running too rich?
« on: November 09, 2007, 11:43:11 AM »

after having the bike tuned with the sert, breather and supertrapp se slip ons I notice a smell from the bike like when I used to tune a carberated car too rich.  at first I thought it was the mufflers just burning off the new, but it has persisted for over 2 thousand miles after the tune.  anybody else notice this.  my a/f according to the dyno sheet is about 13.15 across the board.  of course that does not mean I know what it is at a partial throttle opening.

my mileage changed only slightly...I was really afraid that it would drop drastically but it didn't.  in fact the difference could be attributed to the fact that the bike is nore fun now at higher throttle opeings so I spend more time there now than before it was tuned.  still getting 38 to 42 between 75 and 80 on the highway.

Hdctss, Kojak's right - that IS good mileage. Sounds like its running just fine to me, unless you're getting hesitation from low throttle settings, or excessive popping/back firing on decel. BTW, my tuner told me that 13.25:1 is the optimum AFR for most acceleration situations, and leans it back for cruising.

What hp and torque did you get??
