New Flhtcse2
« on: March 13, 2005, 03:47:01 PM »

Hi all

I have just bought the last CVO Ultra in the UK, [smiley=1syellow1.gif] with stage 1 kit, along with the info I read on this board, negotiated a swop for standard length air shocks, hoping to give me some ground clearance.

Have I done the right thing?

Hope this ride is as good as you guys say it is.

Ultra CVO welcome to the web site and congratulations on your new ride. [smiley=beerchug.gif]

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but they haven't made an Ultra CVO yet.

Are you saying that the original short shocks are stiffer valved than a stock glide's?

It is the increased ground clearance and lean angle I am after.

With the same air pressure the SEEG shocks will be firmer than stock e-glide shocks. My concern would be having stock hight rear suspension and a lowered front suspension. might make for some odd handling . Would feel better with just a lowered rear suspension. That combo is gonna add to the brake dive. Let us know how it handles.

I understand that raising the rear will speed up turn in and increase the front dive slightly.

Is this not doing the same as the 12"+ progressive shocks that most seem to have fitted. (Discounting quality) Or am I missunderstanding the lowered shock length being at 11"?

I reading between the lines, get the impression that CVO just used the shorter shock route to lowering, rather than doing it properly with lowering blocks thereby retaining full suspension travel, again I may be wrong.

Update re rear shocks.

The bike handles very well turns in like a sports bike (well nearly) it just glides, I must therefore conclude that this is the no cost way to sort the rear suspension.
Brake dive is no problem, they are not powerful enough . [smiley=laugh.gif]

Overall, it is an excellent bike, the best in the wind now it is fitted with a standard screen, I have ever experienced.

I cannot keep off of it.  [smiley=7.gif]
