Too Much Crap, I Miss Kickers
« on: November 09, 2007, 07:08:05 PM »

Over the years have had a few bikes that either just didn't have keys or that I never got keys with.  We'll not be concerned now with details of licensing or other minutia on those that might have been acquired or built without keys.

There were some bikes though that covered a lot of miles with only a push button or a kicker.  Never really worried about it.  Over the years we collect crap. Lots of crap.  Crap has keys.  Pulled in to the garage earlier after having been on the bike for a bit this afternoon and snapped off the "bike key ring."  Heard it plunk down on the bench.  Good grief....

All this crap to be carried directly or indirectly for one motorcycle.  This is nuts.

One key for the bike itself.  One for the disk lock built in to the left caliper.  One for the bike trailer.  One for the Bushtec trailer that pulls behind the bike.  One for the little star bolt/lock thing that locks the GPS unit to its mount plate.  Another barrel key for the cable lock that gets carried in the trailer.  Yet yet another barrel key for something I can't even think of right now but that I know occasionally gets used with the bike.  And two fobs.

This is nuts.

Or you could consider putting a hitch on the rear, and start pullin a trailer behind for key storage!

You may want to check out this post - Zumo Tips/Tricks... this is the screw that I use on my Zumo. If your screw is like the one on the Zumo it's only to keep the latch from popping up and not a security/theft deterrent. That would eliminate one of the things on the key chain. :2vrolijk_21:

I bought a couple of the screws that dood is referencing (an extra one just in case). It sure made taking the Zumo off at night a lot easier and quite a bit faster. And as he said, it eliminated the need for the tool (key) that came standard.  jj

keep them all in the TP except for the fob.  You can just use the power locks on the TP to keep your keys secure........  Oh yeah, forgot, the SEEG doesn't have power TP locks....
