Ken...looks like it could come off to me.  The collector part is still supported by the bracket that has the pin through the rubber gromett, correct?  If that is supported, and you don't think the new slips weigh too much (doesn't look like they would), take it off.  Ride it some tomorrow to make sure the clamps are not going to be stressed and come let the muffs creep...if not, take it off.

Looks like the only thing that arm supported was the stock exhaust. There's no brackets on these tab mufflers for connecting that arm. Think I'll take it off.

Ken hasn't changed the air filter yet, or opened up the box, so the ECM should compensate for the small change the muffs will make.

Ken, I know you want JG to tune the bike with a PCIII, but if there's a good SERT tuner around there, it would be worth considering simply because of the O2 sensors.  The V can run a lot leaner than our other bikes since it's water cooled.

Have you noticed any kind of "stumble" at steady throttle and RPM's between 2500 and 4000?  Curious as to whether the closed loop made that common problem go away.

I'll talk to my dealer about that Terry. I haven't done anything yet about a PCII, SERT, tuner or anything.

I honestly don't feel a stumble at 2500-4000. I hear a little just when twisting the throttle at idle speeds.

If you aren't feeling it, the closed loop must be working well, as almost every one prior to 07 (I'm assuming they have the O2 sensors as well) had that stumble...mine did.  Not bad, but just annoying.  It was a lean mix at those engine speeds, but was easily tuned out.  The idle on these motors tends to move around a couple of hundred rpms.  Basicaly, it's like a short block chevy with radical cams...it prefers running above 4K.  It'll cruise just fine lower than that, but the real power starts there.  Until you change the intake air, just ride it. :2vrolijk_21:

The new muffs look great Ken, a huge improvement over the look of the stockers.

Thanks, Cheri.  He's home now, and doing quite well.  I posted his progress over in the CVO Pets thread.

Terry, I rode a few miles the day before yesterday with the new exhaust pipes. The stumble you're referring to is there now. It's not a big deal, but seems to have lost power at those RPM's. Above 4K tho--hang on.

It's a little lean at cruising speeds then...a LOT of the V's had that problem, set up from the factory that way.  That was before the O2 sensors.  That's where the EPA tests if I'm not mistaken.  PCIII or SERT will take care of it.
