Trailer Floor Covering Recommendations?
« on: November 16, 2007, 09:33:37 PM »

I need some suggestions, I decided to update my enclosed trailer and am confused on choosing a floor covering. I have ruled out epoxy paint because I'm too sloppy and will make a mess. I really want to use something like Race Deck tiles but with 3 rows of E-Track that I want to leave flush mounted, I'm afraid the tiles would have to be stuck down and not of the Race Deck type tiles allow adhesives. So, any suggestions?  :nixweiss:
Thanks.

Mark, go to Lowe's and get the el-cheapo white/black stick on flooring and make a checkerboard pattern.  Saw this on another guy's trailer and have yet to do it to mine, but it looked sweet with little investment or know-how required.  Right up my alley. :2vrolijk_21:

Mark you might pm H-D Mikey he has three rows of e-track and he has two rows of rubber mat like goes down in a horse trailer.  This does keep the bikes from sliding around a bit.  I sure he could send you some pictures...

Hope this helps

Just put a rubber floor in my Haulmark trailer its the way to go it is 1/4 inch rubber matting that you see in some of the newer HD dealerships also in industrial flooring I got mine from a local sports flooring installer at a real steal  it was a remnant . We have done 2 of my buddies trailers in the past few weeks...

When using E-Track on top of the rubber mat you need to put under the e-track the same width flat piece of steal this will keep the rubber from pushing up into the e-track and makes it easier to set your hooks if its done that way.  Its a very nice looking install and IMO the only way to go....

I agree! I've seen several of these but one guy told me he had to relay with a better adhesive due to the self stick adhesive kept releasing. I have noticed the flex in the plywood deck might be a problem for it. Also I am wondering without texture on the tiles, they might get a little slick.
As for the rubber mat idea, very good idea and the most intelligent suggestion but not enough flash for me.
Bubba, you are definitely right about not running flex material under the E-Track, I called manufacturer today, they said to only attach the E-Track to flat hard surface.

My Featherlite has a linoleum floor of checkerboard pattern.  It looks great but after long use in warm weather we have torn the linoleum with car tires maneuvering on it.  It looks great new and bikes shouldn't hurt it even in warm weather.

:zroflmao:  My trailer doubles as a storage shed for the ZTR, weed wacker, leaf blower, power washer...........and lots of other stuff I don't keep in the garage.  Ain't no way I'm puttin' a nice floor in that thing.  Especially like the one in Skippy's Haulmark.  That floor is sweet, but with my trailer's current dual identity..........it'd get trashed.

Hey Mark!
I saw Skippy's trailer in MV last month.  VERY nice.  I think he used some type of adhesive to stick it down, but whatever he did, it looks great and provides a stable base for the bike(s) and riders when loading the bike(s).  Something like that is planned for whenever I decide to get off my butt and build a detached garage.  That way I can get the yard equipment out of my trailer and fix it up nice.  By the way, Mark.............your trailer is SWEET, as is the prime mover.  WOW!

Thanks Henry, I'm headed up to Lowes in a minute to check out floor covering and frp panels for the walls. I figure with a day's work and a few bucks, I'll save myself big bucks by not trading it in. Plus it beats the hell out of raking leaves. :2vrolijk_21:

Mark,

I have another suggestion. Sell the trailer at a VERY reduced price to a good friend from Clinton Ky. Then you can buy one with the flooring already in it like you want. I am in the market.

Rubber flooring from the local fitness store works great glued to the floor... it's cheap too!

I don't have a trailer and proably don't know what I'm talking about, but since you've got the E-track on the floor, the problem we discussed was the track being higher than the surrounding floor.

I would look to install a plywood overlay on the existing floor the same thickness as the E-track. The overlay could be removed when necessary and painted/touched up out of the trailer. With the overlay installed, you could use the Condor as the floor would be level with the top of the tracks.
