Hi All

My first posting so be gentle on me. I traded in my '06 Statoliner for a '08 Duracell in August and a bike arrived on Thursday. My dealership has been absolutely outstanding to work with and I appreciate all the effort it took to locate one of these rare rides. Anyway, I take delivery next week and have noted the same overlap as described. So, I think it is common on all bikes but it will be interesting to see what happens. BTW my bike is #592!

Cheers

Dean, don't the Stratoliners have a 113?  If so you going to be good with taking a step down?

I had to go see what a "Stratoliner" was, and to think I used to own a Yamaha. Don you are correct.

They're pretty nice looking bikes Gary.  No slouch there either for styling or engine.  Everyone should go Harley when they feel the need of course.  But he was on a fine ride to begin with :2vrolijk_21: .

Agree. I can testify that the Yamaha I had withstood everything a young, dumb, full of... 21 year old male could give it and kept right on ticking.  I learned how to do things on that bike (wheelies, burnouts, knee dragging riding, etc) that I wouldn't even think about doing now. The bike I had ('79 XS1100 Special) had a shaft drive and it was amazing how I tortured it and never had one bit of trouble.

I had one too Gary, mine had the factory fairing and bags, it was a rocket in its' day, probably still pretty fast by today's standards if you don't consider the crotch rockets.

I actually cloned mine into what would be considered todays crotch rocket. Didn't have the windshield/bags on it to start with so I changed the handlebars to drag bars, and put a 4-n-1 Kerker header on it w/a racing baffle. That thing would bark!!! ;D

mine is the same way, but the only place I found it was on the tour pak, the rest of the bike you can see where they folded to gold leaf strip around the edges.

I read somewhere that the overlap was normal, but on a tue gold leaf this is not the case.  I will look and find the article and post it.

Here is a shot of my tourpak overlap

Hi Guys

Sorry, didn't reply sooner and I'll get over to the new members section.  :) Was out shoveling snow - can't even enjoy my new ride for a few months. >:( Anyway, Kamloops Harley Davidson had a customer appreciation day and I took the opportunity to chat with them about the paint. Turns out, the overlap is normal. Could it be better - probably - I look at this way - its more gold!!!! :huepfenlol2:

The Stratoliner was really nice, smooth, powerful and big. It had plenty of get and up and go but I was looking for a true and tested long distance touring bike. I simply could not do enough to the Staroliner to make it work for me. One test ride on the Ultra and I was sold. There is also comfort in knowing there are H.D. dealerships most everywhere I would go.
