She's a Sheltie! She's a little on the heavy side, but we've got her on the green beans diet now and she's slowly reducing her waistline.  Sure hope she sticks around for a long time!  We also have another female that's 12 also and a male that's 8 (he thinks he's 2).

We buy the large #10 cans of green beans (for economy), drain the liquid and rinse all of the salt off of them.  Substitue half of their food with green beans.  They love the green beans, feel fully satisfied and lose weight.  Careful with the treats though.  Our Shelties just love carrots, so for a treat, we give them each half a carrot and they think they're in heaven.  So far it's working and our vet says they are looking better than ever.

damn.  you mean those dog-treats are not good for them.  My ole hound feels like she's got to eat those 'snack treats' when ever I'm into the candy bars or chips. Carrots?  That's a great idea.  For me and her.    har!  spyder

Very nice Sheltie, Craig...they are beautiful dogs, and a nice size too.

Thanks Terry!  She is probably the most human-like Sheltie we have ever had.  Good eye on the German Chocolate Cake.  The furry kids get a small taste and then we eat more than we should!

Exactly!  It's really all of those treats I catch Martha giving them!  Now, more beans and carrots.  Kind of looks like my future too!  Holidays are tough on a body!

Might as well forget about any dieting until after the Holidays...just setting yourself up for a self imposed guilt trip.  Just eat, drink, and be merry, then back off in January/February   

German Chocolate is one of my favorites, so not hard for me to spot one of those!!
