Kuryakyn neck covers
« on: December 12, 2007, 07:15:21 PM »

Been thinking about putting the Kuryakyn neck covers on my SERK. I didn't like seeing all the wires and rough welds in that area. But it seemed a shame to cover up the matching painted frame. So I took this approach. I think it came out pretty nice. Thought you guys might like to take a look.

Had not thought of that.  It's a great idea.  As good as chrome always looks I hated coverering the color matched frame on those too.  That's excellent.

Billy, the Kuryakyn neck covers can be purchased in chrome or black. I purchased the black and had a painter match the paint for me. Matching the paint is the hard part because HD will not sell the paint to you for the SE bikes. But a good painter can match it, several guys on the CVO site have had it done on hard bags.

One thing to remember is the Kuryakyn neck covers-they cover up the VIN numbers on the bike.  If you are stopped for some reason and they want to check out the VIN numbers you will have to remove the covers.

The annual safety inspection in MASS requires VIN number checking so that a no go.

Very nicely done.  That really cleans it up and still maintains the custom look.   :2vrolijk_21:  har!  :drink: spyder

The transmission cover is also Kuryakyn. My catalog is at work and I want be back until after Christmas so I don't have the part number. If you call just tell them you need the cover for the 07 touring models. Everyone has there own opinion. Personally, after getting the cover mounted I don't think it looks as good as I had hoped. It just doesn't look right to me. Its a huge piece and the transition between it and the lower part of the engine looks awkward. I haven't had it on long. I'm waiting to see if it grows on me. Probably going to be taking it back off. Again, personnel opinion, a lot of guys probably really like it. I've attached a close up shot of it so you can take a better look ad decide how you like it for yourself.
