The Service Manager happened to send me an email today about something else and it reminded me I hadn't let them know about the cover yet so I asked about who to contact at the dealership for the new cover, here's the response I got:
"Whenever the alphabetical suffix changes on a part number but the number remains the same, it means that it has been superseded to a new version of the same part.  This could be due to a materials revision, a design revision, or a new supplier for the same part.  Fitment is the same either way.  Unless there is some sort of defect in your cover, I don’t know of any way to swap it out for the ‘A’ cover unless you were to pay for it.  Your motorcycle was most likely shipped with one of the last of the original covers before they switched to the ‘A’ cover.  If you have any further concerns regarding this, you can contact Harley-Davidson direct at 414-343-4056."

Everytime I start to think this dealership is improving, they do something like this to prove to me they aren't! I so pissed!  I responded with, 'it is a fitment issue, are you telling me to call H-D directly?'  I'm waiting for a response and taking an extra dose of blood pressure medication!

Has anyone tried this new cover on a 06-07 with the leather tour pak?
I assume if it fits the King Tour Pak, it should fit the leather one too.
Anyone with a 06-07 going to try to have the dealer replace theirs? :D
The old cover was made for the 06-07 SE Ultras.  The problems is with the '08 bikes because of the larger king tourpac.

Warren,

Guilty as charged, that's who the email came from.  I wrote him back and told him it was a fitment issue and he said he'd check further and get back with me by tomorrow.

LOL, that's f'd. :huepfenlol2:   I can't believe they'd think a cover for a bike that doesn't even come with a tour-pak would fit those with chopped tour-paks, leather tour-paks OR king tour-paks.  WTF were they thinking? :nixweiss:  Somebody's suffering from a serious case of CHIT-FOR-BRAINS at the MoCo. ;D

Man where's the quality in Quality Control located?  :nixweiss: Surely there is a manager responsible for ensuring the pants fits the suit?

The old cover was made for the 06-07 SE Ultras.

If I am not mistaken, the old covers fit the '04-'05 SEEG, the '05 having the chopped tour pak. There never was one that fit the '06-'07 properly...
That is until the one for the '08 came out.

Way to go HD<<<>>>

Because of this thread I called MOCO, after a bit of discussion. Oh,ya there is a new cover, it is if you don't ask they won't tell, so if you have a 08 SEUC you need to ask either the dealer or the MOCO.

Get your cover, you certainly paid for it.

Mine is being sent to the dealer, they'll UPS to me and they want the old one back too.

My dealer claimed to know nothing about it until I took him a picture and told him about this forum.  Had the correct one by the end of the week.  They wanted the old one back also.  The correct one, if I recall is the same number as the one that was delivered with the bike, except it had an A on the end.  Fits antennas great and longer in the back.
