You know....   my grandpappy flew B-17's in the big one, he said they always knew when they got over Scotland by the white strips hanging all around the houses...   He didn't understand because the Scot's he worked with seemed like stand up guys....     Turned out it was the washed toilet paper they were drying on the line!!!

sorry, I had to add that....   He always thought it was the funniest joke he knew.

ps...   Grandma's scottish.

 :jack:

PPS...  mine came with a spanner.  But it doesn't fit the axle nut.  It's too big!!!!

;D ;D ;D ;D  Yes, and copper wire was invented when a Scotsman and a guy from Eugene got to fighting over a 1c coin!  :orange:

Oops!  I forgot that you guys call a spanner a "wrench" over there, in case anyone wondered what I meant.

Jim

Spanner in this case is a tool we use to adjust the preload spring on a shock.  There's no way HD is going to throw in a 36mm wrench or socket for a bike that only costs 35K   ;)

The tool kit that comes with Harley's or most bikes for that matter ain't worth a crap anyway.  Buy a Cruz Tool kit or build your own.  There's a nice Snap On kit that costs a king's ransom and probably not worth it (around $200) where the Cruz goes for $70-$100.

It is too bad they don't give the Snap-on tool kit with the new bikes. It would consist of more USA made parts than the bike! "There is a difference!"

Well, the ordinary Ultra Classic kit comes with a wrench that fits the rear axle nut!  :nixweiss:

Good one Jorge - mine came with a reserved spot on a lift at the dealer - waiting for replacement jugs/starter/etc., etc...  :(

Thanks for explaining what a "spanner" is, I was thinking it was something really high tech!  I have no spanner, but I did get a (made in China) vise grip clone.  I can just imagine using that on something nicely chromed!

I did get a spark plug puller and gaper, more allen wrenches than I have ever owned, and a neat screw driver with multiple attachments.  I got a whole bunch of bar ties, and 2 large shoe laces to keep things together in the kit.  I recall my grandfather fixing his car with things like cloths hangers, shoe laces and bar ties so he would really appreciate the kit.  I did not see the required absorbent pad or rear cylinder gasket though...  :nixweiss:

Since I work for SnapOn I have the kit - better than most kits out there but not complete.  So when I travel I add a few things here & there.  The kit was designed to save space - case is about the size of a pistol case.  It has about 75% of what I think I need (in case of emergency).  In additon I carry a tire plug kit (bell/walmart 5 or 6 bucks),  a small bottle of crown royal (waiting on someone to get my broken down tail $20), misc fuses etc.  I have had close to 30 bikes and have never been stranded (sheer luck).  Although I have ridden into dealerships with flat tires & no oil - had the line get cut somehow on my cuse called the dealer- I  was out of town - they were to busy to come get me so I rode it to em.  Bike still running great 10k later.  Moral of the story - think of what you can carry and how far out from the HD store you may be - We all ride - My experience most HD dealers will attempt to get a traveler in & out.  As far as tools go - there are many quality ones out there - why would you run the risk of stripping a torx on a bike you paid 23-40k for.  SnapOn has a close relationship with HD so I would like to think that our kit is about as good as it gets for one that you can carry.

Yep, my '04 SEEG came with this same screw-driver in the tool kit, but somehow one of the 'multiple attachments' had managed to 'walk away' .   har!  spyder

I used the H-D tool kit bag that came with the bike, put some real tools in it and then tossed the Chinese junk in the trash. Then again, I only bought a plain vanilla Ultra anyway. You CVO guys probably got much better stuff than I did.

I vaguely remember a tool kit with the SEEG.  The pouch itself seemed pretty decent......

I got a small tool kit with my 08SEUC.  Even for simple jobs it usually doesn't have everything I need.  Every time I need another tool, I add it to the harley kit.  It's about twice the original already.  Not that I expect to be able to replace a head gasket or anything, but I'd at least like to be able to take care of the little stuff!
