Favorite Spark Plugs
« on: January 07, 2008, 12:01:01 PM »

What kind of plugs are the most popular.  I have a 2000 screamin eagle roadglide and have always used stock HD plugs.   Any recomendations of what is best??

There is another thread on this somewhere.  I have used HD plugs including Screamin' Eagle in the past but switched to NGK Iridium DCPR7EIX.  They work great in the 110.

I also was using the Screamin' Eagle, but found my bike to be hard to start.  Changed to Denso Iridium IXU24 and am very pleased with them.  Their IXU22 is for stock motors.

Mike...is this the same plug for the 103 as well?  Would guess so.  It's about time to change mine, and though I've had good service with the SE Platinums, I've always preferred NGK products in the past.

My engine loves these NGK plugs as well.  Have used Autolite and HD.  The stock HD plugs were better than the Autolites, but the NGKs have been the best.

Terry - to the best of my knowledge, this NGK plug will work in TC 88, 96, 103, & 110's.

I've been running NGK plugs since my dirt bike days & when I switched to street years ago continued with NGK.  Less satisfied with other brands - for some reason especially Champion.

Terry or anybody - who makes HD spark plugs?  Had ok success with those SE Platinums also. They are not great, but not bad either.  Like a lot of other HD stuff, I suppose.......

Same here, standard issue 6R12's, changed every 5k (never did believe in reinstalling plugs with old crush gaskets, so when I pull them at 5k intervals for "inspection" I just replace them).  The high priced platinum or iridium plugs don't make much sense (or have any advantage) if you change plugs that often.

Same here.  Except I'm even cheaper on only pull them out every 10k unless something makes me think about doing it more often.

I had 12,500 miles on the NGK's when they were replaced and the bike still ran great and the plugs looked good to.
GRC and 2Lane, you're killing me, especially Don.  Everything you have on your bike is 1st class and you use the std plugs when you can have something better.  Not like you.  Put some NGK's in there with the new build.  :)
