Cooler 110
« on: January 21, 2008, 11:48:46 PM »

Hi all,

I have read a lot about heat and issues that may be heat related.  Has anyone tried HD Fan Kit for Touring Models" 91196-08?  It is supposed to keep the engine running 20 degrees cooler at low speed.  I know on days I was stuck in stop and go traffic I wondered if something like this existed to keep the engine cooler.

Has anyone tried this or something similar?  Does it work?  Is is worth considering for these hot 110" engines?

i had one installed on my bike, It took the dealer about 1.5 hours, Also if you do get one, you will need need to but a Y cord so you can plug it in. Here is a link to the pic http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=19299.0

Instead of the fan, you may be better off getting the bike tuned properly with a SERT, PC111, or TMax..  Getting it richened up would help by these tuning devices.  Have not seen many of the fans installed on bikes.

I got the race tuner and will dyno by bike after it has the mandatory 500 miles on it.  I have only ridden at 45F and below so far, so heat has not been a concern.

Looks aside, do these things actually work? Does the bike run cooler, or does this only help during parade duty?

If you install a fan keep an eye on the mounting bracket they break all the time.

Boatman and Mr Magoo are both right.  I had one on my 02 Ultra.  A Race Tuner will do a better job of lowering the temp.  And the rubber mounts constantly break!  I always took two or three with me on trips and used um all!  Don't waste your money on the fan, spend it on something to richen the motor up.

After 100 years, why do we still have this problem? Lets face it,an inline air cooled motor is probably the worst design on the planet.HD never claimed to be an engineering marvel.

MOCO

has a free update that will turn the rear jug off when throttle is less than 2% turned and engine temperature rises.

apparently they turn off all fuel to the rear jug when idling

does anyone have any direct experience with this mod and what are the other symptoms if this mod is done,

can be done to 2007-2008 110 motors for free from dealer....

Looking into installing a Oil cooler. Has anyone done this? I know that it will NOT be usefull in stop and go traffic. The other benefits of an overall cooler running engine might be a good Idea to install and combat any heat issue thereby prolonging engine life. Whadda ya think?

Road Kings and Ultras come with the cooler. I assumed all CVOs did.

Do it. It won't hurt a thing.
