I damaged my tank console decal a while ago, ordered a new one, had a discussion or two about not wanting to turn in the one I had.

Anyway, most of the personnel are at the dealer show, picked one of the less experienced helpers, told him I'm picking up my ordered part; got it and away I went.

I guess if they ordered it for you they didnt care about the old one. Its ordered under your name, its yours.

I have ordered and recieved a two of these over the last few months without turning the old one in. Its VIN restricted to order but no need to turn the old one in. Its the same with the painted parts, VIN restricted to order only. The only parts that i have had to turn back in have been 03 parts with emblems, with those I was able to take the emblems off and just turn those in. Guess the dealers handle things differently.

I think there may be some written policy with HD somewhere and that every dealer reads it differently.

As far as I'm concerned, I bought the bike and I own it, not just the rights to use. This ain't no stinkin' software ya know. .....................
