Okay, so maybe last year while I was still riding my old '76 FLH, 45° would seem a bit cold. But going back to my old Michigan snowmobile racing days, today was warm.
I had to ride today because I just had to hear my new exhaust purring away. The new V&H Dresser Duals and their Oval muffler sound just like what I wanted. They are deep and mellow without the chirpy sounds I've heard from some of the others brands. They bark when asked and quiet down for cruising. I know they're probably not the best for making power, but they still make my bike run better than it did with the stock pipes.
I did the basic downloaded map, loaded it and I have none of the popping on decel nor any glitches in the mid range at all. It seems to really run great.

I have a hard time keeping the

grin off my face while writing this.

During my ride today, which was a great 88 miles, I rode with my buddy and he has an '03 SE Deuce. I've ridden his this summer quite a bit while my old '76 Shovelhead was laid up, but today I forced him to ride my SERK and I got back on his Deuce. We rode curvy roads with top speeds in the 55 mph range. His bike just seemed rougher and mine smoother. I think a lot of it was due to the IDS on my SERK. I also felt that the SERK handled the corners better than his Deuce and with less effort.

Again with the grins, I can't help but think this has to be one of the best bikes made.

It handles well, relatively speaking, it's plenty fast enough, it brakes well and it's smooth.

Did I mention I REALLY like the sound of the new exhaust,,,,,, again.....

Fourth gear seems to be my favorite gear for riding twisty's from 25 mph up to 85 mph. Feet on the highway pegs and let the motor do the rest. I'm cognisant of what you all have said about lugging the motor on these, so I don't crank it on at low rpms, just let it gain back up slowly.
Did I also mention how much I like this bike???

So I'll ride a bit more this winter and then get it dyno'd, but it does run so very well right now it seems a waste of money to do so.
Thanks for putting up with my ramblings about how much I love this bike....

One last thing, I also upgraded my rear pegs to running boards for the wife. Boy they don't give those things away. I got the Ironside rears with the chrome adjustable mounts. This lets me actually set them at a slight angle like the front running boards, up just a bit in front. Approximately $550 including the 20% discount. I think they look a little less stylish than the pegs, but as long as they make her happy, I'm happy, if you know what I mean...

I also redrilled another four holes in my mounting plate for the Tour Pak to set it back another 1.25". That really made a big difference in how she sits on the seat and it changed her leg angle to a more comfortable angle.
Again,

sorry for the ramblings.
Later dudes and dudettes...
