Not I - never been and never will get seasick...  When I owned the dive shop have had customers puke on me on the stern - even that didn't get me.

Grew up in a boat fishing the Chesapeake with dad and/or granddad.  7 days a week during the season, if the blue crabs were peeling, the blues were running, the weakfish were in, the drum were up, spot were in - or the day ended in a Y we were fishing.

Neither have I (scared to say never it's been sometime since I was on a ship, and no telling what changes my body has gone through during the years), but couldn't resist to give that sailor chit about their chow. ;)

Not that the Corps was much better and I even spent about six months cross training as a cook, but they don't need to know this.

So that's what you do at the firehouse when you're not "ho"ing around the net.

Oh yea. Spent a couple years cooking everyday at work for my shift/station (15 members). Before that as a kid growing up worked in restaurants until I went in to military. Started as a dishwasher and worked my way up to being a cook..... halfway decent one at that. Nothing real gourmet, but I can guarantee you'll not leave hungry. ;D That's one thing I learned in the fire service.... don't mess up the food, and have enough food. As long as you have those two elements you're safe. :2vrolijk_21:

Charlie, I always thought the best part of those seas was watching my fellow jarheads blowing lunch!!  :huepfenjump3: Sean, Gary anybody.............  :coolblue:

I always thought it was amazing when we'd get into some rough seas and the lines to sick bay would wrap around the two galleys twice, as all the little squids and grunts were waiting to get their pu$$y patches (which after you get sea sick, it's too late to put them on).  I do have to admit that the cooks would get their revenge during heavy seas.  Seems like all they'd cook would be greasy pork chops, runny eggs, greasy sausage links...all that good stuff that slid back up as easily as it slid down.   :P  Never understood how you could get sick on a carrier.  But my troops would have buckets sitting next to them at their work stations.   Now on a tin can, that's different.  When you're walking on the bulkheads instead of the deck because of the heavy rolls, that's a different story.  :)

Ran dive charters for over 20 years, over 16 on my own boats. Had good days and bad.

Have has many customers puking all over, sometimes on me, never bothered me, came close one time, customer puking in my gear box and when I put my mask on  :o.

But there have been flat calm days that I have hit the rail. No rhyme or reason just sometimes you hurl.

There are some people who get sick every time they go out, and there are those that have never gotten sick, they are the ones I envy.

that's me...been in some really, really heavy stuff growing up fishing and running my shop - have worked on gear, at night in the middle of the boat when everyone else was turning green and hurling, only ones not puking were me and the boat captains...

Must have a titanium middle ear.

I hate to break this to you but that's not how we got our revenge, you don't want to know that. I switched from a nice cushy desk in the procurement office to get duty back in my home town, the only thing open was cook so I took it. Had more fun there than anything else I've ever done but you got to understand that was in the 70's. ;D

Worst we ever went on in was Sea State 6 but when your boat looks like this thats huge.....

lucky for us you only feel the bad weather when you are transiting to and from the dive point,

What is that "smell" aboard those things?  That alone is nauseating........let alone rough seas and funky chow..........although it is my understanding Submariners eat better than anyone else in the Armed Services.........and rightfully so!  ANYONE who can live like that for months on end has my yield.  God Bless Ya, and THANK YOU for your service!!!!   :2vrolijk_21:

Didn't know they rated beyond 5.

But what's it matter on one of those " Neutral Bouyancy" vessels anyway.

At 100 feet below the surface you don't feel squat

Hehe, I hear ya...there were four rates that were my friends in the Navy...the cooks, cuz I liked knowing what I was eating; the disbursing clerks, cuz the worse thing you can do is mess with a man's pay; the corpsmen, because all of a sudden your shot record could get lost; and the personelmen, cuz they could really mess up your service jacket.   ;)

Well it could be a number of things... did the boat just come back from a long underway then it is was probably F.A.N. ( Feet, A$$, Nuts).... my girlfriend use to complain about my clothes smelling like the boat and it was probably due to them being washed aboard with the water that was distilled at sea, we add a chemical to the water to prevent scaling in the evaporator that takes some getting use to, or it could be good old fashion lube oil in the air. Being a mechanic throu and throu I never really noticed anything but the first one....

It is true we do get the best food, surf and turf normal once a week, also due to the small size of the crew the captain and the officers eat the same food as we do, this is the real reason why we have the best food. Have to say I miss the sliders and fresh chocolate chip cookies on Tuesdays.
