Happy days
Are they good eating?
When we were in Hawaii (the big island) two summers ago, we were up on the big mountain during the meteor shower in a little state park road side place. We had been up on the mountain for the sunset and stopped off to camp out in our lounge chairs and stare at the stars.
Man oh man, I've never seen so many stars. I asked why it was so cloudy and they told me that was the Milky Way, not clouds. The sky was just beautiful.
Back to my story.
We had taken sandwiches to snack on but before we could get to them I felt something on my foot. It was pitch dark out and I asked my wife if there were dogs around her too. It turned out to be ferrel (spelling) pigs. Some of them I would guess at over 100#. They were bumping into our feet in the dark. I turned on my cell phone and to get a little light and there they were. Scared the hell out of us at first.
We turned on the lights of the Jeep and then started running after them and throwing rocks at them. I must have looked comical as my boss and I were running around in the dark with our cell phones lighting the path where the headlights didn't shine. My boss fell over a low rock row fence in the process.
We scared them off and moved our chairs out onto the parking lot. About a half hour later we heard sounds of them on the blacktop so we decided to leave. We walked to the Jeep and when we turned on the lights there must have been 20 to 30 of them around us.
I believe there is an open season on them there. They do tons of destruction just as you showed in your picture.
That night will not be forgotten very soon...
