Nah, if I was thinking pizza there'd have been a third option in there ::) .

I figured you left out the R rated stuff and just went the PG route :huepfenlol2:

Just got back from a little 90 mile ride that was the first ride after finishing the dyno tune.  When the tune was begun the clutch crapped out before it was completed.  Dyno run was mostly done at the time.  But not quite.

Was at John Golden's this morning a bit before 9:00 to finish it up.  As usual he did wondrous things on the mystical magic spinning machine.

Last time before the clutch started getting hot the bike saw something like 128 and change on the hp side and 116 and change on the tq side.  Best thing of course was significant torque in early climbing throughout the cruise range.

Max numbers today peaked at just above where they were before on the torque side and a point higher on the HP side.  Smoothed it out a bit too.  Final tune brought the numbers down just a bit from max to 125-122 but should buy some decent fuel economy at highway cruise.  Still have over 92 ft pds of torque 2500 and well over a hundred at 3k.  112, 118, 120 in each of the next 500 RPM increments.

It is fun to ride it now.  The performance in the highway and interstate cruising RPMs is great for quickly buzzing around a truck.  Think it will be a blast to ride in the mountains.

Long term reliability will of course only be proved by riding it more.  But nothing is stressed so much that it should be a great concern.  Anything can always just break tomorrow.  But I'm willing to be optimistic about it right now.

Twolanerider, Dave Mackie and John Golden - - - now there's a combination you can't beat.

Big High Five on the build Don.

Enjoy the ride brother

Thank you sir.  Have to throw Axtell equal cudos on this project too.  Lots of helpful guidance and good parts from them too.

Did all the homework and modeling on this that I should have done the first time.  Made the mistake of trusting the damn vendor the first time and got caught in my Zippers.  That just hurts everytime.  Buttonfly successfully unZippered the errors of my ways though.  And damn she's a fun bike to ride again this year.

I know I sing his praises perhaps to the point of diminishing returns. But Golden is just that good with a bike and a dyno.  Am so glad a few have had the opportunity to take advantage of his work.

The Road Glide should visit him Saturday morning too.  A set of pipes got ordered this afternoon just before a shipping deadline and should be here Thursday.  They'll go on it that evening or Friday and John will dial in whatever it has on Saturday.  Am curious to see what the 95 gives up.

Don,
Am thinking you're gonna have too much exhaust for the stock TB and no tuner. Ship the TB to BC Gerolomy and spring for a PCIII

     PS,
Pass those Hookers on to another lonely biker for a Saturday night to remember  ;D

Brought the PCIII home for it from John's this morning.  That's what he'll be tuning it with.  It's already got the StageI A/C kit on the front end.  We'll see how it does there before I worry with doing much else.

I've got a spare TB/Int here that I can send out if need be.  As long as it just runs good I'll be perfectly content though.  It won't need to nor be asked to do what the red bike does.  Just has to be a fun ride for things like weekenders.

Did you get the SE Breather Kit I sent you yet ?

I'm sure JG can find a home for it if it doesn t fit RedRedRed

Hell if you know anyone with an 01 or older still running stock, you can upgrade em intake/exhaust

UPS has the box in town today.  Since I've the stock exhaust that came on this bike already stored safely in the attic the mufflers that were on these pipes can go back on them and make a complete dual setup.  In fact sent a message just a bit ago to one of our brood who I know was both exhaust and cash poor a few weeks ago.  If he's still in need I'll send them along there.

Biggest problem with the SERG Don is the grunt work cams and the heads.

Mr Mackie can fix you up right quick I imagine.

After all, look at how nicely Otis's STOCK** 01 SERG runs.

If I brought tools to MV you think Otis would notice if you and I swapped mills between his bike and mine one night :nixweiss: ?

Sure is Duane.  Or at least will be once I get it the unit installed in the Road Glide tomorrow night.  That's what John tunes with.  So I do as I'm told and that's what I use :2vrolijk_21: .

Either way, I know I've seen it before. Someone on this site did a road trip and posted pictures sometime ago.

It was me that posted it before - from one of our Road Trips down to European Bike Week in Austria.

Found this thread again just to gloat about the warm fuzzies from this past weekend's trip back and forth to York, PA.  Guess I didn't realize as much while messing with it last year just how annoying it was having the bike run so badly while it was still all Zippered up.  The unzipping and resurrection was completed awhile back of course.  The bike had just seen some local running since though.  Only 700-750 miles or so and no chance to just let it run for hours and hours to really get a feel for the beastie again.

York did that.  Had one day about 750 outbound and another about the same inbound.  Knew the bike was running well.  But man this bike runs well know.  Pulls and pulls and pulls some more.  Out on the road it is a happy happy machine again.  Which means I'm a happy happy rider again.

On the trip out had temps for awhile in to the mid 80s.  On the way back had temps as low as 40 with drizzle.  At different times had just about everything in between and ranges of clear continental blue skies to clouds sitting right down on the helmet.  The bike never whimpered.  The warmer temps would have castrated the bike last summer.  Could crank it now in 6th at 75 and not a hint of detonation.  And that was pulling the trailer.

It is wonderful to have this bike running so well once more.  The bike deserved it.  I did too.  The heads and cylinders that came off are still here.  I'd have a suggestion for the gentlepersons at Zippers as to what they might do with them.  But I'm just certain a cylinder wouldn't fit there.  And I'd hate to think of the difficulties if a keeper came off and they dropped a valve.  So we'll stay focused on the here and now.

Here and now the bikes runs great.  Great!

The only complaint isn't a complaint but a nuisance.  Fuel economy isn't what I'd dreamed of if allowed to dream of such things.  Pulling the trailer at 75 down the highway it's in the low 30s.  So it's time to look for fuel at 125.  It's time to find fuel before 150.  Had some strong head winds for part of the trip so overall it wasn't a fair measure.  But it's a drinker not a sipper.

Without the trailer in normal weather I've already seen close to 40 mpg with it once.  That's fine.  And stopping to rest your butt for 15 minutes every 125 miles or so isn't a bad thing I guess.  Would just be nice to get to stretch it out and enjoy the ride just a little bit longer some times.

All told, however, the summary of the red bikes first good run after the rebuild would be:

vroom vroom
