Don,
Congrats on getting it all together and dyno'd today. The numbers are impressive. I can just visualize your smile :vrolijk_4: as you were leaving John's after the dyno runs. Something tells me you wacked the throttle a couple times on that ride. :vrolijk27:

Ok, truth be told I opened it up a bit a couple of times.  Mostly just ran it back and forth from low cruise to 4500 or so though.  Was fun to feel that bitch pull like it's supposed to :mango: :bananarock: :mango: !

Don,

Are those Harley or Mackies pistons?   I dont recall where I read it but saw you dyno tuned the bike, what did it put out in either or both 4th or 5th gear?

As Scott mentioned they're JE Harry.  It was 4th gear runs for fair measurement.  Rear tire at 45 psi.  Tank also happened to have only a couple of gallons of last fall's lawn more gas in it (the damn thing ran out of gas heat cycling here in the garage).

No solid final numbers as the clutch started giving up.  But even before the slipping clutch got too hot we saw numbers above 125 hp and almost 120 tq.  Even better was that good torque was in nice and early.  Description of the dyno trip is back on page 4 of this thread.

Now that I found my way back to this thread. Looks great. Great numbers and the bike is awesome to look at to boot.

I'm hoping you can get your schedule cleared and make it to CHL next month. :2vrolijk_21:

Same here Chuck.  I would LOVE to have that run to stretch the bike out with.  Would be a wonderful christening.  Certainly looking forward to it.

Thanks Mike.  AFR was running about 13.7:1 in the highway cruise RPM range and stepping just a tiny bit richer to about 13.4:1 when it was twisted harder.  Across low RPM range, cruise range and higher areas of acceleration it had no dance though.  A nice clean line.

Don,
Did I miss a line in one of your posts, or did you forget to credit the man who did your heads, matched your pistons to your cylinders and in general took the mess Zippers begat you and turned it into this wonderful machine you now have ?

B B

I did take note of the mention on the cams, but didn't see him credited elsewhere. Forgive my sloth if I missed it

It's all back there somewhere.  In either this thread or that other one the machine work had been discussed in earlier.  Mackie's cams and his significant input on the headwork.

Axtell and Mackie were both great shops to discuss everything with.  Willing to listen.  Willing to share and discuss ideas.  Not set to any predisposition while very much interested in the goal of how the bike would be ridden.

A LOT of homework was done this time around.  Talking to both of these shops were invaluable experiences.

PS
Thanks for the input on the TB and JG's exhaust preferences. Bubba_T's 03 SERK Mackie build should be about 5% below yours by my calcs, but real strong and without a fairing or TP on the back, I expect quick as well. Maybe I can get Beagle to snap some shots of the Mackie heads when they get here tomorrow.

Definitely.  And so glad it spins as it seems to so far.  Still get the grin on myself each time I walk by it or think about firing it off that first time or watching John do his magic on the dyno.  Watching someone truly gifted at what they is uplifting.  When they're doing it for the benefit of your bike running well it just gives a big case of the warm fuzzies.  Can't wait to read and hear the good words on the gold SERK when it gets all buttoned up too :2vrolijk_21: .
