So what's wrong with keeping the RPM's in the 3-5K range in the twisties?  3rd and 4th gear seems to work well for most of them, and an occasional drop into 2nd for a few seconds  :nixweiss:

I think I just ride a little differently than most folks...I just ride at higher RPM's, I think.  Very rarely drop below 2500 except when truely just puttin' around town, and it only takes a half second to downshift.  I do find myself looking for another gear on the hiway sometimes though.

No tellin' how many times I've done that.  I need a six speed.  Looks like Baker is in my future.

5k is a little high for extended running. Would rather have closer ratios and more to choose from.

I agree, Duane...I don't run my bike at 5K often, but 4500-5000 in twisties is just for a second or two, particularly when you know you're going to need the gear you're in coming out of the next curve...like on the Dragon.  For me, The Dragon is a 2nd/3rd gear ride, and the Cherahola is a 3rd/4th gear ride.  I just don't like pulling out of the apex of a curve below about 2300rpm.

3-5 in the twisties is just right. Stay on the cam for control of the throttle, let the engine help you brake that way, sit forward up on the seat, and brake late and hard, right before the turn the turn. Keep the r's up and have full throttle control and let the front brake help you steer thru it! I'm having fun just talking about it. Oh how I love the twisties!!! :huepfenjump3:

We are talking about getting thru them as fast as possible, aren't we? :nixweiss: ;D ;)
