Delphi questions!
« on: February 24, 2008, 07:11:20 PM »

It's my understanding that Harley went to the Delphi ECM system in 2002.
Is a 2002 Dephi ECM system as good as a 2003 system or 2004 system or 2005 system or newer?
Have a couple of things in the works and the answer to this question will be helpful.

Dennis (rednectum), where are you when I have a question?
Anyone have a clue?

I believe they are the same until 07(06 for Dyna's) when they got the 02 sensor.

Chip
1st off, Beagle's brother in law Hank has an 02 with a M&M. Next, I think the Delphi TB has undergone several changes from 03 on up to 07. Changes to size and other issues I believe. Others far more knowledgeable than me can jump in here (Please do)

the two piece lends itself better for boring. when they went to the one piece (06?) the injector rate and wiring changed.

i wouldnt say any is better than the other. BUT, the design of the two piece TB seems to flow better its more of a Y where the 06 is more of a T.

I'm not really concerned as to the throttle body but more of the basic ECM to start with.
Was just wondering in the purchase of an 03, 04, 05 and 06 year model is the ECM the same? (basically?)

I believe on my 02 I have a Delphi TB and M&M electronics, not that it helps or answers any of your questions. Later,Q

Although this may not answer the question it should help understand the principle. ;)

Chip when I was messing around with ECM's saving them reprogramming them what I found out was that an 07 ECM could work on 02 later but an 04 could only work on 04 and 03 and 02 only for delphi.

Your correct the delphi started in half year 02.   The 02 ecm can also be found on some 03's, but if memory serves me only some of them there was a new model put out and there was a new one in 04 etc.   There are some bleed overs in the base years of extra's that needed to be used I guess.   I don't know that you will find any differences in the ECM's by going to a newer one it is the software and programming of the eprom that enables the features.   I would however tell you to take a look at the oem calibrations file it will show you maps from say 01-05 then you will find others here are some examples from the latest configuration file.   I will also attach it for you take a look at.

As far as SERTS go you should be able to put a new one on your bike and use it to program a delphi otherwise if you have an M&M you have to buy the M&M version.

Chip,

I joined the M&M club last week , flew to Reno and bought a Triple Red and rode it home, even went to Area 51 thought that might help the M&M>>>>>> MY Indy here tells me that his tuner is great with an M&M and Direct Link.. We shall see...I'll keep you posted...Greg.

Regarding the issue of the stock M&M throttle body. You can have it bored out and the manifold ported.

Just thought I'd toss that into the conversation
